Model S&W carried by Rick on Walking Dead?
Just got into the walking dead recently, pretty good show. Wondering if anyone knows the model and barrel length of the S&W that rick is carrying...cant tell if its a 6inch 686 or a 629...

This thread mentions Rick & his revolver, although,
at over 200 posts, you might have to look a little.

Rick has always carried a six inch Colt Python as his holster gun. This season he also has a Glock with a homemade silencer.

It's a Python, you know, one of them 'spensive pony guns that you only have to point in the general direction of a zombie to be able to make head shots on the run from 50 yards away . . .

Yep, and his hollyweird low-grip on that Python. Maybe someone around Atlanta will invite him out for some shooting lessons. He might as well get some REAL culture while filming in our beautiful state of Jaw-GAh.

He's a Brit. What would he know about shooting a gun?
Hearing him use his normal accent is weird.

I read an interview with one of the crew members and he said that, during breaks from shooting, they can't get that Python away from him. Only at the end of the day will he surrender it. Lincoln said keeping it all day helped him stay in character but the crew member said it was because he just plain out fell in love with the pistol.

looks like a flash paper gun or a fake one atleast for that photo judging by the odd lines on the front and the back of the cylinder.
plus what idiot would put a billboard worth of warnings on the rib of the python on the front?

They must have an S&W on set because in the second season I clearly saw him give Otis his revolver, and it was a 686 or a 629. NOT a python....However, it is very common in movies and TV for the prop people to assume the audience doesnt notice....that wont slip by me however

Not to get too far off topic but it was nice to see a Smith 27 with a 3 1/2 inch barrel in another zombie movie, The Crazies. I will say although I am not a Python fan, I would much rather see Rick carrying the big Colt versus some polymer wonder gun. If you look close in the first couple of episodes this season, he is still carrying the big gun. Something about a .357 just gets the blood boiling. With full house loads and a good SWC he could probably get a couple of walkers standing back to back with head shots.
