Default Hornady ammo

I friend bought a new savage in 308 we are working on getting him ready to go with it. Last range trip he tried some hornady ammo and after shooting it he can hardly open the bolt. you need to pound on the bolt handle to eject the case. I believe I read somewhere that hornady was maybe pushing them a little hard. anyone heard of anything with the hornady ammo. Its the onlky ammo that has done this. however i shot his ammo with no ill effects out of my remington.

how old is the ammo? was it their classic ammo or some of the super performance ammo? if it is the super stuff that might be a little hot for a lever action. Hornady used to market a line of ammo that was loaded a little hotter than the standard pressure ammo and it was hot. I tried some of that in a 303 British and it was really hot.

It's not any of that light magnum stuff that hornady used to load is it? That stuff was kinda spicey. If not I would put in a call to hornady with the information from the box of ammo in question and see what they say.If thats not it it could be the rifle has a bad chamber or a headspace problem.
