Ever say anything in jest
I was talking with a guy at the Iron Mountain MI. VA hospital and said in jest; you notice all the strange antennas on the roof of the hospital. You would think with all the antennas this is a CIA or NSA listing post instead of a hospital. Boy did he take off with that and run with it. Before my appointment was over the talk around the hospital was the was a secret elevator to the upper secret floors were agents keep track of all the veterans because they all belong to terrorist groups. The comments I made were a joke this guy took it as fact.

"I do"
The problem with those is that they can be expensive if you tell her you was only joking.

This post was in response to another post that was subsequently deleted.
My experience with the VA has been totally satisfactory.
Perhaps that's because I don't feel as if I am owed anything and am grateful for the care.
I see a few fellow Vietnam vets who think because they have drug problems and other issues, that they have the right to demand instant service.
Try that at a regular hospital. Of course there you generally have to pay. At the VA I've never been charged a dime except for scripts which I get at the service-connected rate.

Since the VA is federal, they likely have antennas for other fed agencies' radio systems on their roof, especially if it's the tallest fed building in the area.

The thread was not to become a VA bashing thread it was suppose to be about a bit of humor and how some people have all kinds of conspiracy theories. It is also about how a few innocent words started a rumor. I get as good care from the care givers as I let them give me, and I always double check with my family doc.

Years ago I worked with a guy who was sitting at a bar one night sharing his misery over his impending divorce. At some point in the night he opined to his friend beside him that "it probably would have been cheaper just to hire someone to bump her off".
A while later his friend excused himself to see a man about a dog and a stranger who had been sitting a couple of seats down slid over and asked him 'just how much he'd be willing pay for something like that ?'.
Needless to say, the toss off remark made in jest suddenly didn't feel so "funny" . . .

I have learned the hard way that things said tongue in cheek should not be said around people you don't know.
I said I've learned this, didn't say it changed my behavior in the least.

On a slightly smaller scale but just as dangerous none the less. One time when my wife was sick with the flu she said that she felt sorry for me to have to hang around and take care of her. IN JEST I blurted out before I could stop myself...."I'd rather be miserable with you than happy being with my friends."
Some women totally lose their sense of humor when they are sick. Mine is one of them.....
