70 years ago today
As we honor the men and women who have served and currently serve reminds me of the sinking of U.S.S. Juneau and the loss of
the 5 Sullivan brothers. Their ship was sunk November 12,1942.

When I was a teenager my mother was friends with one of the 10 survivors of the sinking of the Juneau. He told me a little of the story and their rescue after many days at sea, and took me flying one day in one of his friend (the famed aviator) Art Scholl's two seat trainers which was a real adventure. A great book about the tragedy is Left To Die by Dan Kurtzman.

If you can go find a copy of the movie.. " The Fighting Sullivan's".. It's out there and worth the watch..
