The Last Six Revolutionary War Vets.
A few days ago National Review Online ran a slideshow of photos of
the last six veterans of the Revolutionary War.
They were taken in 1864 when the six were all 100 years old, or older.
It turns out that an online publication called The Early American Review
posted the photos and info on the vets in a story called, "The Last Men
Of The Revolution." Somebody who saw my post about this on another
board found that story and posted the link.
I can't get the link to work for me but this should give enough info for
those interested to find it. Interesting and affecting, especially so close
to Veteran's Day.

One of my favorite books is by Joseph Plumb Martin, a private during the Revolution, who late in life published a first hand account of his days during the war. It is a fascinating first hand account, and highly recommended by myself.

Thanks for the link, always find this stuff interesting.
My multiple great... great grandfather who fought at Brandywine and Monmouth only made it to 1830, but by then he was already 83.

I can trace my family back to the French & Indian War (Seven Years War). I am a direct descendent of a man who fought with the British as militia at Fort William Henry in Lake George during the French siege. Have had a relative in every war from then on.

My folks were all Quakers and Tories; they mostly went to Canada: my Grandfather came from Barrington Passage, Nova Scotia. However, Pennsylvania residents may recall the Bucks County Doanes, a few of whom were hanged after the revolution.

My folks were mostly WWI,WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. I found the descriptions about the last six men fascinating. All joined up at a very early age and lived to a ripe old age. Frank

I posted this on a couple other sites. It's getting good reviews on all
of them.
