Just listened to a talking head who stated that Notre Dame would be at least a 10 point dog to any of the SEC teams in the top 10.
I think the play off system is long over due. Have a four game play off and the winner plays the SEC champion for the National Title.

I don't think that would be fair to the other non-SEC schools. A four game play off would be fair, but the winner would still have to play an SEC school. I think the SEC champion should be declared the National Champion each year. The rest can play to see who is number two.

Okay fellas. We're old enough to remember when Nebraska and Oklahoma would crush just about any of the SEC teams. Y'all are on a roll,no question about it,but every dog (that's dog,not DAWG) has his day.

ND plays a cupcake schedule. Alabama would beat the Irish by at least three TD's. SEC is toughest conference in nation by far. USC, even without an injured Barkley, will send ND back to reality and around 10th in BCS when all said and done.

Cupcake schedule? Let's look at the facts...

ND beat then-ranked number 10 Michigan State
ND beat then-ranked number 18 Michigan
ND beat then-ranked number 17 Stanford
ND beat then-ranked number 8 OU.

Alabama beat then-ranked number 8 Michigan
Alabama beat then-ranked number 13 Mississippi State
Alabama beat then-ranked number 5 LSU
Alabama LOST to then-ranked number 15 Texas A&M.

I would hardly call either one of these schedules "cupcake!"

I'd love to see a Bama/ND game for the NC and think it would be a great game. ND has been playing very well this year.
We've got to take care of Auburn and Georgia first. I like our chances against Auburn but never take it for granted.
A Bama/Georgia SEC championship game should be a doosie.

Let's see... Auburn somehow beats bama which means LSU wins the west in the second tie breaker. Georgia looses to Ga Tech Florida looses to Florida State, Oregon looses to Oregon St and ND looses to USC. Kansas looses in the Big 12 championship-LSU beats Georgia in the SEC championship then it's LSU v Alabama in the BCS Championship!!!

Or not.

A&M surprised Alabama but Auburn and ND both will be
destroyed (14-21) points, by the Tide. Like Fattom said, i can
recall when the Oklahomas and Nebraskas we're running their
wishbones and just completely demolished everyone. Then came
Miami who was dominant for a few years. Now the SEC has been
on top for awhile. It will be hard to count out Bama' and LSU
for a long while as long as they have Saban and Miles running the
programs because they are both great recruiters. ND will start
getting better players again because they are winning again and
Ohio State will be a force to reckon with as long as Urban Meyer
is there. Same with Oklahoma and coach Stoops. USC will always
get the better players because of tradition there as well.
Bottom line is the Schools with the big programs and tradition
who are'nt (caught) cheating will be in the hunt most years.
Right now the SEC is dominant no doubt.
Roll Tide !!!!

The dawgs have 2 chances, slim and none !!
They could lose to Tech also.
But we'll see. That's why they play the games
on the field. Not in polls.

Chuck,

Somewhere in there Florida State had quite a run under Bowden. I think Brent Musberger is still living in that era.

I think Verne Lundquist comes from the era of leather helmets. That guy has been making mistakes every weekend for the past few years.
But I guess if I was getting well paid to go to great football games every week they would have to run me off to.

AMEN!

Back when Tracy Rocker was playing for Auburn, Ole Keith used to like to say his name, "ROCK-ER!"

He was the best announcer on TV for years.

Good play-by-play men can really add to the entertainment aspect of a ball game, in my view. I liked Jackson and Chris Schenkel the best. I enjoy Lundquist, too. When he gets excited by a play he goes, "WOUWWW!", in that gravelly voice -fun to listen to.

Back to topic.

Lunquist and Musberger are both idiots-they hate LSU and I cringe when they call our games.

Love old Keith Jackson. Talking about lineman( The Big Uglies).
More than anyone Brent Musburger drives me nuts these days.
I HAVE to switch the sound off when he's calling the game.

Since it's a computer based numbers/averaging/spread sheet anyway I would like to see them add 3 things the the number crunch:

Average GPA of a players on the team.
Number of scholarship players who actually get a degree.
Take away points for the number of felony or serious misdemeanor convictions.

+1 And I miss Larry Munson!

"I know I’m asking a lot, you guys, but hunker it down one more time!" And after they did against Auburn winning the SEC Championship, "Look at the sugar falling out of the sky."

"We just stepped on their face with a hobnail boot and broke their nose. We just crushed their face," when Georgia beat 6th ranked Tennessee in 2001.

Everything is cyclical. SEC appears to be the best conference because they don't have to play each other (a la big XII). Outside of Bama, the rest of the teams are not head and shoulders above the rest like everyone thinks. If tAMU was still here they'd still be middle of the pack like they were every year. Take away Saban and the SEC would be as dysfunctional as ever. Sure OU got beat by a very good ND team, but the big XII's top 6 can play with anybody.

Then we'd simply hand the national championship to Vanderbilt every year! They had a pretty good run this year even with the GPA handicap.

HUMMMMM--Just an observation--prejudiced, but none the less an observation.
LSU got real lucky against A&M so did that Fla team---beating Bama was a given from my side of the room.
I think you boys wanted a pushover when you picked A&M---shoulda picked the T-Sips.
I bet LSU don't want another shot at the AGGIES.
Blessings

Ohio St would have been in THE game were it not for the REVENUE their players were getting off the field. lol. Don't get mad, just kidding! Yes, the media would have loved to see Ohio ST and ND play! Anything to get away from the SEC. While I am not a fan of the playoff system, its time has come. Let's see, this year in a four game playoff system, you would have what, 3 SEC teams. At the very least two. Still doesn't seem fair does it.

You talk about cupcake schedule. Look at the pathetic Buckeye schedule year after year.

Play Akron and Ohio U and a bunch of other MAC teams not worth a lick. They are the weakest paper undefeated team in some time.

Oh, and Notre Dame is going to get destroyed by Alabama.

USC could have won that game, but it was about the worst called game I have seen in Division 1A in a long time. Lane Kiffin is an awful coach.

The difference was back then, the SEC teams played 8 out of 10 games each other every year as conference games on a rotating basis, leaving 2 "at large" games. The SEC teams beat each other up year after year. And at the time, you had teams like Notre Dame and the Big 10 teams playing no one, could go undefeated and win a national title, while it was virtually impossible for the SEC teams to go undefeated. Especially considering a team like Florida in the 80's, they had to go through a BRUTAL SEC schedule and also play Miami and FSU in the same year when they were in their hayday. The other SEC teams had their non-conference rival games. Georgia played South Carolina, LSU played Arkansas and / or Texas A&M, Alabama usually played one of the Big 8 teams like Texas or Oklahoma. Etc.

JCS&W,

The Ohio State players "Sold items that were GIVEN to them, as is their own private property."

The NCAA SHOULD BE DISBANED UNDER THE R.I.C.O. act.

They are a Pimp and Cancer upon college athletics.

Free Enterprise should rule.

Course I was mostly fun'in with my poke at LSU.
It has been a great intra confrence rivalry going back befor Billy Cannon.SE & SW could not get out of the confrence without some cockroach jumpin in and spoiling the fun.
LSU did it a couple of times when they were between good teams.
Texas did it onec to A&M in '39 and kept them from a National Title.
Blessings

Hmmm, some of the articles that I read also mentioned something about team members being paid for part time jobs they didn't have to work and being paid by a booster to attend charity events. To me that sounds suspiciously like being paid to play.

I think Florida played the toughest schedule in the NCAA this year.
Seven SEC games in a row, tough job. Give Georgia credit, they
beat us, but we played and beat some great teams this year, some
of them on the road. I think nine of those teams will be in bowls.
