Wink The Big Gunshow

Went to the big gunshow for Corpus today. Black Guns were competatively priced and people seemed to be buying them. Tactical shotguns were also popular. The price of new pistols, in particular plastic guns, seem to have gone up about 5-10% in price since the end of October gunshow. Some decent prices on used S&W revolvers. People seemed to be buying new plastic pistols, as well as used pistols.

Primers were available, but not in great quanities. They were running $37-$45 a thousand for American brands. I was lucky to find 2000 Wolf LP for $32/1000. Powder prices ranged from average to high. .223 ammo was available but pricy compared to last month. Any kind of jacketed ammo was expensive. I sure am glad I cast for all my pistols and about half of my rifles. It was good to see Americans walking out the door with guns and ammo they had purchased. Sometimes with more than one firearm.

Attended the Big Reno Show last week. Pretty much the same deal. The biggest ammo vendor was doing just shy of the business we saw in November of 2008 when Zero first got in. Not quite the hysteria.....maybe 75-80% as crazy.

Watched a guy fill up a cart with all sorts of rifle and pistol ammo...then it rang up to $6600+!! Put it on THREE credit cards!!

Makes me SO HAPPY I Cast as well as Reload. Could not imagine buying all my ammo!

Primers at the last MT gun show were $27 per K by the 5K for Winchesters. That was the cheappest vendor. There were guys with primers marked at $60 per K.

Same deal on those...bought a ton of them back in 2007 when I saw the handwriting on the wall with Obama. I think I paid $18 per K.

My friend Joe told an interesting story yesterday that I hadn't heard before. He said he'd walked up to Arbys for lunch and the young black girl at the counter was crying and basically non-functional. So being a father and a good guy he asked her what was wrong. She could barely answer him. It seems that in front of him was a rough looking guy with a rifle slung over his shoulder. She figured he was a mass murderer. He calmed her by telling her there was a gun show in the building and there were probably over a thousand guys coming and going down at the other end of the place. It calmed her somewhat.

His guess is she lived in a place where you never see that and anytime you do see a gun, a crime is in the offing. Its an interesting view that gun nuts don't see or appreciate.
