Default Palmetto State Armory CS kinda stinks

Just a little frustrated with Palmetto State Armory guys/dolls.

I ordered an upper assembly plus complete lower build kit in Early October. I have not received it. I have never actually spoken with a customer service rep because when you call the message states all reps are busy, please call back and hangs up on you. Here is the email response I received from PSA regarding my lost order:

From: Palmetto State Armory [mailto:[email protected]]
Sent: Monday, December 03, 2012 7:28 AM
To: “blocked for privacy”
Subject: RE: Order #100xxxxxx ******************UPS lost it 4 weeks ago

I cannot re ship your order until I get results from the claim filed with UPS. If they find it, they will deliver it to you. Thank you.

Brian L.
Customer Service Rep.
803 788 9095
200 Business Park Blvd.
Columbia, SC 29203

So their best thinking and customer service is that if UPS finds my order they will ship it to me?
Oye vey....

+1 for shopping at another company. Price, Quality, Service: Pick any two!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The insurance on your goods is the shippers business with the carrier. None of your concern. It is the shippeers responsibility to reship in a timely manner and then resolve the issue with the carrier. As an aside, thank you for the post. Rest assured I will never do business with Palmetto.

If it was me, I would have cancelled the order by now. Seems an unacceptable delay.

But no doubt they are busy right now considering the gun stores are lying to people about the "pending assault rifle ban". Every black gun is flying off the shelf.

I live in Columbia, and used to frequently visit and purchase from them.
They have recently opened a new store, indoor range.

I have stopped using them for anything. I find that they have become a little arrogant, a little too "osds" kind of attitude. Although they often have attractive prices on ammo, uppers, lowers, etc....they do incredibly stupid things.....such as....
they had a sale on 9mm bullets. I went to purchase 1/2 a case, and there was none on the floor. An employee stated that there were plenty in the warehouse (located in the same building), but he was not allowed to bring them from the warehouse to the sales floor....a distance of about 50 feet..........HUH?????????? I raised enough hell that a different employee actually did the retrieval and I was able to purchase the bullets. That was my last trip.

good luck with your problem......their own employees admit that the CS sucks.
these are my opinions only, ymmv.

An upper is a non-FFL item, so that is why they are being cagey about sending out another. In their minds they don't want to send another only for the original to turn up at your house and you keep it.

Either that or they have decided to use all their uppers to make complete rifles while demand is up. Probably more profit that way.

They have a store with range on the way to Hilton Head. I shope there sometimes. But eh....Could be a lot better. No price stickers on the ammo and sometimes none on the shelf...and sometimes no one seems to know the price.

I've only bought ammo when on sale from them. What unpleasantly struck me was lack of communications, if I remember correctly I had to call in next day to find out my order whereabouts... I understand they might be busy but I think order status is important and it can be automated.

their problem is with ups,not with you. they should immediately reship or refund your order. if you paid with a credit card, refuse payment due to non-receipt of goods ordered.

Thanks everyone for your understanding and support.

Yes, UPS is defintely to blame - it got lost right after the arrival scan at UPS warehouse...Duh!

But clearly the customer service is not their at PSA.

It's too bad because I spent 20 years in Customer Service and it's really a great field to work in and easy to implement.

Anyway...for my other two lowers I will pay a little more and go shop elsewhere.

Things happen at UPS, USPS, FEDEX, etc with all the years of dealing with them I have only had two items damaged in transit (a honey extractor because it wasn't packaged right, It is huge, and a transit rod), and that was USPS for both (don't know how they shipped something that big, they use to ship Bees but don't anymore ) and they made good but USPS took awhile. I guess I'am lucky never had a package lost in shipping but they will make it right. As for PSA customer service I have not had to deal with them yet and hope I don't have to. Only order so far was the Kahr but I may because they haven't shipped yet but they said 5-10 days because of buying frenzy from election.

I read a huge thread about PSA and the multitude of problems and complaints about them on another forum. This doesn't sound like anything new, lots of people never got the stuff they ordered and got jerked around afterwards. Blaming the shipper for stuff that doesn't arrive is one of their standard practices.

One of the nice things about shopping at their store in person is that Sportsman's Warehouse is just down the street. Most price comparisons favor SW, especially reloading supplies. The main thing that PSA does that bums me out is that stuff like surplus ammo on their web site never seems to be available at their store (on multiple occasions).

Exclamation

I have seen a LOT of complaints about Palmetto State Armory over the years, and often, they are similar to this one: doing things in a manner that other, more reputable suppliers simply wouldn't do.

PSA will either get their parts back, or get reimbursed by UPS.

Holding you hostage while this is settled is reprehensible.

If It was me, I would cancel the order, and buy from someone more reputable... Like Botach Tactical.
