Default Hawaii 5 O, I had to laugh...

at the most recent commercial I've seen for this series. There is a sequence where Scott Caan is squeezing off a couple rounds from a semi-auto pistol. If you watch closely, you can see him squinting and grimacing, maybe even closing his eyes, as if he is scared to death while firing his gun. I would be embarrassed if I were him seeing this commercial on national TV. He should spend some time on the range and learn how to shoot with confidence, instead of looking like a pansy shooting a gun for the first time...

Scott Caan is certainly no James Caan!

I watched the show when it started. I do not like it.
Castle is my big favorite. Do not want to miss one episode.

I've only glanced at the show but my wife gave it up because she can't stand the constant blabbering banter his character has to do. This is very common in shows now for some reason. In NCIS Mark Harmon has to stand there and wait for that chick with the pigtails and that idiot he slaps on the head to finally shut up.
All these actors should go to that live ammo course Robert DiNiro and Val Kilmer did for "Heat". And writers should sit down and watch a Steve McQueen movie to see how much can be said without words. But maybe they just have to deal with the short attention spans of people with a control and eight million other channels to watch nowadays.

Daniel Craig is Scott Caan's shooting coach.

Have a look at Mel Gibson on the firing range in the original Lethal Weapon! Turble, just turble.

I mainly watched Hawaii 5-0 to see Lauren German, and she left or was fired. But Grace Park isn't bad. She looks like an older version of my favorite waitress at the Outback, who is half-Korean. I told her and the manager that tonight, and the manager got out his super cellphone with Net capability and looked up Grace and agreed. Both the waitress and Ms. Park look good in black shirt and black jeans.

Anyone else see that episode the Monday before the Vicky's Secret show, with Behani Prinsloo in a cameo role, with a Vicky's tent at the beach? Caan was talking to her. Both shows were on CBS, so I guess it was a promo deal.

Back to Five-0, I think I saw the other male star, whose name escapes me at the moment (Somebody O'Laughlin?) use a P-226. Lauren German's character had a Glock. She told an interviewer that she was afraid of it. Typical TV star...

Aloha,

I live here and I don't watch it.

FYI, the Camaro they drive is a V-6.

I used to watch it trying to figure out Where they were filming.

I prefer Magnum over 5-0

and its in Asia IIRC.

back to 5-0;
I never got into the original when it was on reruns and I watched much more TV, so why would I even bother giving this weak imitator a chance?

It's just a TV show. They are actors who are pretending to know what they are doing. Whether shooting guns, riding horses, or having a relationship, it's all make believe.

I know that's stating the obvious, but sometimes I wonder.

It's actually a pretty good show, although I think Caan is too short and just generally badly cast. But I've watched, "Revolution" more this season.

Yep, they should all just stare at each other or give simple two or three word statements. Great character development. Not everyone is a Gibbs. Maybe make for an ok movie but a show that has to air weekly? Aint gonna last long.

Cut out the music too. No music in real life when stuff happens

One of my pet peeves is watching actors shoot. They almost always blink. It got so that I was wondering if everybody does and I didn't notice it. Even started wondering if I did (?).

I've got to disagree with you on that one. If you watch some movies/shows it's obvious some guys are horsemen, shooters etc and some are fakes.

Duvall, Wayne, Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, William Devane, and especially Ben Johnson can/could all ride.

Segal, Selleck, Nuggent, Robert Conrad, Duvall, Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt, Josh Brolin are known to be frequent shooters.

Then there are the "other" guys.

I agree with you but the difference is, these guys actually have skills in the area. Ben Johnson never had to pretend he knew how to ride a horse and Tom Selleck doesn't have to pretend he knows which end the bullet comes out of.

Kind of irks me a bit when those Hollywood anti gun folks make millions off of, well, pretending they know how to handle and shoot a gun.

Now back to Five-O . . . another thing that is totally unrealistic is all the high speed chases and shoot-em-ups they do and they never seem to have to do any paperwork. They just yuk it up and move on to the next high speed chase or shoot-em-up. Most any cop in the trade will tell you they spend nearly as much time doing paperwork as they do on the job.

Leading up to that commercial the scene was that he had just been tied to a chair and beaten for a few hours. He grabbed the bad guy's Desert Eagle and shot a couple of bad guys. Maybe that was it...*s*

I didn't like the original 5-0, and I don't like the new one any better. Jack Lord, the original series star(?) (as McGarrett) was a rabid and outspoken anti-gunner, and many of the episodes had an anti-gun slant to them. I don't know if the new episodes do or not (I viewed only one, and it did not), but the old one left a very bad taste in my mouth for that reason.

This is most annoying to me also, but what really irks me is some of the "experts" on the Wednesday night gun shows on the outdoor channel. It is obvious that many of these folks who advise us on the art of marksmanship have gotten their experience form behind the keyboard. These guys cannot squeeze the trigger without closing their eyes and flinching. How on earth do they ever put the bullet on target, or do they?

I have to laugh at this. My wife loves Castle. I think it' the dumbest show on television although the last Christmas episode was good. I like the gun play in 5-0 but the show could rival Castle for the top spot as being the dumbest show. So when Castle is on I read and she does the same when 5-0 is on.
