Need Swing Song Title
When I was stationed at Ft. Knox in the '80s, one of the FM public stations had a swing/big band show on (on Saturdays, I think) that had a really good song as its theme.
I think the title included something like "stomping/jumping/bouncing at". It's not any of the more well known songs, such as "Stomping at the Savoy" or "Jumping at the Woodside". I know how it goes, but I don't have any easy way to convey the melody.
Did anybody hear the show and remember the theme, or have any idea what the song is? It's hard to do a useful Google search for something like this.
Anybody have any idea?
Thanks.

Are you thinking of "The Boogie Woogie bugle boy of Co. B"?

It's as far away from that as it is from "Purple Haze". It's a big band instrumental.
It's not something you hear frequently. In fact, I don't think I've heard it anywhere besides that radio show.

Go to you tube and start following leads. Louisville has a good restaurant named The Bristol. Wouldn't have been The Bristol Stomp, also the title of a Dovell's song from the early 60s, would it?

Well golly gee. Just trying to help. Scuse me while I kiss the sky.
BTW- find a big band version of Bugle Boy. At least one did, and I'm thinking several did. WAY different from the Andrews Sisters.

It's an instrumental. That's what makes it hard to ID.

He said big band.
So that would be rhythm section plus about 4-5 each saxes, trumpets, and trombones.
And...aside from that...not much help. Been ages since I lived in the big band world. Seems like every other song had jump/bo0unce/wail/stomp in the title. And big band...that's about 70 years of rep to dig through.

That's a little like asking about a song that includes: " Rock, or Roll or Rock & Roll or something like that".
Would it be " At The Woodchopper's Ball"? played by Woody Herman? (but some here may remember Gene-Gene The Dancing Machine.)

I have no idea on the song but have you tried calling the radio station? Maybe someone that was around back then is still there. Long shot but probably worth a phone call.
I feel your frustration. I once spent months trying to ID a song I heard driving through Indiana one night.

Before I posted here, I looked up the two stations I used to listen to at Ft. Knox. Neither carries the show anymore, and it's entirely possible that it's off the air everywhere.
If anybody knows of a simple, FREE way to generate a melody and save it to a wave or mp3 file, I could post a link to the first few notes, which are very distinctive.

Finale notation software, if you have someone with melodic dictation skills. Then they can type in the notes, and generate a midi or mp3.
I wouldn't know anyone who can do this...lol
I say finale is free, only if someone's already purchased and has a license for use ... finale does have a free super light version, finale notepad, but I do not know if you can generate an mp3 or midi file from it, as I've only used Finale full versions.
