Default Boycott Cheaper than Dirt

Cheaper than Dirt will no longer get my business since they have caved to the liberal pressure. They have suspended all online gun sales and have raised prices on 30 round pmags and .223 ammunition.

Agreed. I just posted same reaction on another thread. Did not see this one. Yes any company I see back peddling as a public relations move looses my future Busniess.

No guns that I saw listed, unlike before.

I did a websearch restricted to their website and found the following, which seems to confirm the OP info:

Bushmaster AR-15 M4 RDO Semi Auto Rifle .223 Rem/5.56NATO 16" Chrome Lined M4 Barrel 30 Rounds Micro Red Dot Black 90940

Their phone number is 800-421-8047

Benjamin Franklin said:

"We must all hang together, or assuredly we'll all hang separately."

I have no tolerance for those who would leave the supporters of our Constitutional and God given rights, including the 2nd Amendment, hanging.

I want to talk to them and get a response. Till then, they won't get my business.

Guess you need to end shopping at Dick's Sporting Goods, since they removed all guns from the its Store nearest NewTown, CT and is suspending the sale of certain kinds of semi-automatic rifles from its chains nationwide.

The NRA has gone silent since Friday. You going to boycott the NRA as well?

Just curious.

Yep. Giving the media and the anti-gun wackos an excuse not to focus on the real problem: the criminally insane walking among us.

CTD uses software that adjusts price based on inventory remaining or some such. Thus years ago they had boxes of Blazer 380 fmj for 70 or 80 dollars.

CTD did the same thing with ammo prices after the 2008 elections. Business as usual for them.

Pretty much!

I used them once, after 2008, for a deal on 7.62x39 ammo. At the time i didnt know they were charging $80 for 380acp. Since i found out i have stopped using them.

Before all this i did use them to check prices though. If i wasnt sure how much some specific caliber would cost i'd check AIM, SGAMMO, CTD and a few others. My normal online store is AIM, SGAMMO and Palmetto state...

By the time this shipstorm is over, there won't be too many folks not on that list. Probably won't be much to buy anyway. Sad in countless ways. Joe

Strange to liken the NRA with their history of support for gun rights to Dicks and their total lack of support at this pivotal time.

Been boycotting them for the last 4 years, since their price gouging on 380 ammo.

Now that's an awfully broad brush you're painting with there partner.

By choosing not to engage at this time the NRA is doing there best to let the shrill left spend themselves in to insanity.

We need not add to this din.

Not a problem to drop Cheaper Than Dirt as a supplier for my needs, nor Dick's over-inflated prices and poor customer-service. Also, the NRA has my membership until it expires, but SAF gets my donations.

Drew, I think you misread his post, he was responding to another poster asking where the NRA is? Then again maybe I'm misreading this.

Perhaps Mike... But my response still stands. If I misread the post by kamanone I apologize. Perhaps it was best directed to the poster who was being critical of the NRA for not joining in the food-fight and orgy of stupidity now being entertained in the media...

I read our local "Red Rag" of a newspaper tonight. On the front page was a column by AP [associated press] that brought up the fact that NRA hasn't replied to their questions. I read the whle thing thru & deceided it was a hatchet job for sure. Don't believe half of what you see & nothing you hear. I feel bad about what happened but a kid on prescribed meds can't be all together mentally.

"NRA STATEMENT

12/18/2012

The National Rifle Association of America is made up of four million moms and dads, sons and daughters - and we were shocked, saddened and heartbroken by the news of the horrific and senseless murders in Newtown.

Out of respect for the families, and as a matter of common decency, we have given time for mourning, prayer and a full investigation of the facts before commenting.

The NRA is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again.

The NRA is planning to hold a major news conference in the Washington, DC area on Friday, December 21.

Details will be released to the media at the appropriate time."

I quit CTD when they started storing common items in seperate warehouses and then wanted to charge seperate shipping from each one. last time I almost placed an order the shipping would have been more than the cost of the items.
Needless to say the order did not get placed and I haven't been back since.

I'm a life member of NRA. I didnt hear that theyre going to stop showing ads for semi autos in their magazines. Such actions put the spotlight where it doesnt belong - - - - on the guns, rather than the mentally disturbed murderers taking psychiatric drugs that can increase the likelihood of suicide and violent behavior. Isnt this obvious ?

I prefer the stronger stands taken by GunOwners of America (GOA) and Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO). You dont have to be Jewish to join JPFO. They know history, including what happened to a lot of innocent people in 1930s Germany when they were disarmed.

Heck, I can't afford them.
$700 for 1000 rds of 5.56!

I think boycott is a strong term.

If they they think their business is better not selling guns that is their right.

It's your right not to give them your business.

I do not buy from them because I have found their prices on ammo good, but their shipping charge for ammunition high.

Last flyer I received from CTD showed that they were selling the M855 at $499 a thousand. Seems to me they are mighty proud of what they sell. Or gouge the customer, take your pick. Frank

Well you all are going to be busy boycotting all of the gun jobbers that sell the Daniel Defense Ambush 300 AAC Blackout AR-15(necked up .223 Rem. to .308). I just won the only one on G.B.tonight. and did a Google search and it appears that better than 20 different gun stores have pulled this model from their shelves.I could not find one dealer who had not pulled this gun off their sales list,it was the only model I looked at.

I only wish those on the left would have had the courtesy and the decency to do what the NRA did and not say anything until the facts were in. It's called respect. Instead from the President, several Senators and Congressman, a few mayors and pretty much most of the media decided to call for gun control before the bodies of those little children had even been identified and almost no proven evidence had been collected. To me anyone calling for legislation should have been publicly shunned because it was at the least insensitive and at best positively ghoulish.

What's remarkable to me is CTD's Facebook site losing likes at a rate faster than I've ever seen any single Facebook page related to firearms ever lose likes in the site's history. I don't go on FB to blog about my lunch; just to post pictures of model cars, but I do subscribe to businesses that I either support or used to support. At 10 AM EST yesterday (technically, as I'm on EST), CTD had about 277,000 "likes". The actual rate of loss fluctuated, but they peaked at 100 lost "likes" per minute at about 1 PM EST. As of the time I'm typing this sentence (3:24 AM EST), they have 195,310 "likes". Just wrap your head around that: that's over 80,000 lost likes in one day. I estimate that about half those were just following, but that approximately half had at least on one occassion purchased from CTD. Of those 40,000, I would estimate about 10,000 to have been regular or semi-regular customers. If you're the size of CTD and you lose 10,000 regular or semi-regular customers, can you even survive a financial hit of that magnitude?

As I mentioned in a previous post in this thread, I hav'nt been
a CTD customer for a few years due to their price gouging.

The sad aspect of all this is that it's a "double-edged" sword for us gun
owners, which applies to other companies that are also trying to placate
"others" while turning their backs on "us" in the process.

The double-edged sword comment simply means that by us boycotting certain
companies, no matter how justified, it could possibly do more harm to us, in
the long run, than anything "The Brady Bunch" could do to us on their own.
At least in certain aspects........

Likewise. I was furious after what they did in 2008. My business went to a combination of Midway USA (I know some people have had problems with Midway, but they've been fine to me), Brownells, and the LGS. But I never "un-liked" them until today. I wonder how many people were like that; just never bothered to take them off. Like I said, my estimate is 50% (or about 40,000 of the lost "likes") judging by the content of some of the more reliable comments posted there, but who knows?

In Columbus, on the upper part of the Outerbelt (I270) there are two huge, identical water towers. Long called "The Twin Towers" when used in traffic reports as a geographic reference, after 9/11 and since that time, they are no longer called that.
I remember watching several reruns of movies from the 20th century that after 9/11 had the WTC blurred or removed when a skyline of NYC was shown.

CTD's decision (and you WILL see many, many more follow suit), is like this.

Gun sales?.....Us?....Never happened...

And soon it will be .....Sales?....US?.......Hasnt happened!

They are catching huge flack for their shenanigans this time. Their face book page is getting slammed with -1, NOT liked or whatever it is on FB. Someone started a FB page about CTD and not for positive reasons. It got bad enough yesterday that their Magpul 556 mags which were listed at $60 were then listed as $30 after their generous 50% off. So basically its still a ripoff and they are still selling one mag for the price of two.

I guess you can boycott Ruger also-just checked their website and all mini 14, their AR mags and mini 30 mags of any capacity are listed as out of stock.

Although unlikely it might be possible since their mags are the only mags that are made for and work in a mini14. Most AR mags are sold out and there are many many companies making them

Did Ruger pull them to be PC or have the panic buyers bought them all up? There is a big difference.

Well said David. But of course the anti-gun crowd couldn't take the risk that the facts wouldn't support their agenda and they didn't want to miss the chance to steer this issue in their favor.
