No klaxon horns on mine. My phone does sound off with "Brown Eyed Girl" whenever the ol' lady calls.

I have my phone programmed to play the "Star Spangled Banner" when my wife calls. When I hear it, I know it’s time to stand at attention!

I tried using different ring tones for my various contacts, but found that I couldn't remember which tone was associated with which contact...so, I just use one tone for everyone except my wife, and I use a very lovely guitar riff for her.

I don't know how to set it to ring differently for specific calls. It's not a "Smart" phone. My favorite US Cellular rep smiled sweetly and said "Jim, you have a Dumb Phone". I can live with that.
I have it set with the ring that sounds like what phone rings were 35 years ago. Only problem is when I'm watching an older movie or TV show, and a phone rings on it, I check my phone because I think I'm getting a call.
I'm a total dinosaur when it comes to technology (I still listen to 8-Track tapes) and I don't intend to change.
I'm 47 in case you were wondering.

What's a klaxon?

Only one ring tone for all, no discrimination for my phone.

I recorded all of my dogs barking at the same time and use that for my ring. Also have one with the old crank phone. Ring, ring, riiinnnnggg, ring. (that was our old phone number)

My ring tone is the theme from "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly". I can hear it from when I leave my phone on the other side of the house.

Mostly the "old time phone" ring.

For that one particular person, one from this site:

Only one ringtone for me (seem to only have a ten-year warranty on the wife thing); the opening of "Paint it Black" by the Stones, just because I like it.

For a short time I had her ring tone set to Elton John's "The B*tch is Back" and I was "da man" to my buddies. Until one day I misplaced my phone at home and stupidly asked my wife to "call me" so we could locate it via the ringer noise. Needless to say, she found my phone and returned it in several pieces along with a glaring, I mean glaring "stink eye stare" that would slice thru granite.

I believe I'm still in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most expensive replacement phone ever. To this day, the words "ring tone" are never to be spoken in my house.

And yes, there is a lesson to be learned here.....Class dismissed.

Many years ago, I was blasting some Aaron Copland. "Fanfare for the Common Man" and the Mr. says hey that is cool, I like it, and asked what it was. I told him, and he said, "Oh, you mean 'Fanfare for ME!'" So when he calls...that it was I hear.

When my oldest daughter calls, it's Blue Oyster Cult "Godzilla"

When everyone else calls, the main theme from "CLose Enconters of the Third Kind"

When I get a text message, it's a Star Trek Communicator.

When I get a voice mail, Worf announces "Captain, Incoming Message"

I have custom ringtones set up for my wife and the half-dozen or so people who call me most frequently. In each case the ringtone sends their name in 20 wpm morse code so I don't have to look at the phone to know who's calling.

I use to have her ring tone set to "do it to me one more time" by Captain and Tenniel but she called me while I was a meeting at church. So now I get a simple notice that says "your wife is trying to contact you on your cellular device"

My wife and I make our own using music we have on the computer and Audacity to crop the song down for the part we want for the ringtone, export as an mp3 file so the phone can use it, then transfer it to the phone using various ways. Companies want you to pay for ringtones so they can make a killing off of you, but you can do it yourself with some time and for free. Some phones are easier to do this with than others so you may also need a free program called BitPim.

The only two ringtones that I have heard that I would have wanted was one I heard a customer in the Farmers Exchange phone go off and it was a realist Whippoorwill call and the other was "Foggy Mountain Breakdown". Jeff

I need to see if my phone is sophisticated enough for custom ring tones.

A klaxon is the sound/tone you hear from a Navy vessel (surface combatant or subs) alarm sound system that something is amiss:

i.e. an emergency exists

Sort of like the sound you will hear if your wife finds a pair of panties that do not belong to her in the back of your vehicle.
Especially if they are freshly damp.

I got the Smith&Wesson Forum ring tone. It's not an actual ring...it just plays "I miss my telegraph" when I get a call...

Ring tone for my wife on my phone is Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries",
which most of you will recognize as the music broadcast from the 1st Cav UH-1's in the movie "Apocalypse Now" -- those Ole Miss girls can turn any event into a grand entry..............whether it be a call from Albertson's grocery about what kind of meat to buy to indignation about bad drivers -- she is a trip and napalm can't do to a landscape what she can do to people that are incivil or have with bad manners.
God knows, she keeps me straight.

How about theme from "Caddyshack", Kenny Loggins?

Mr. Stonehorses drives trains. His ringtone is Blackfoot's "Train, train".

Do they still go "AHOOOOOOOOOO-GA AHOOOOOOOOOOOO-GA??? This technical genius has the ringtone that originally came with the phone, so if I hear a custom ringtone, I know it's not my phone.

I like the idea of the blue birds chirping, mg357, but am afraid in my rowdy world, I probably wouldn't hear it very often. The rest of you have some really entertaining ones-all very interesting, love the creativity.

Companies want you to pay for ringtones so they can make a killing off of you, but you can do it yourself with some time and for free. Some phones are easier to do this with than others so you may also need a free program called BitPim.
I need to learn how to do that-does that work for the iPhone? I ended up purchasing 4 different tones:

When Hubby calls me, the theme from Peter Gun plays, (when I call him, his phone plays "Addicted to Love". He also has Yoda saying "A message from the dark side, there is," on voicemails and texts; says it gets him some interesting looks).

When daughter calls, it's Bon Jovi "Sleep When I'm Dead";
Phone call from the house is, "If the House is a Rockin', Don't Bother Knockin', by Brian Setzer;
and anybody else is TSO "Wish Liszt (Toy Shop Madness)".

"Mine is a bull elk bugle, gets everyone's attention in a crowd." I bet, Trapper. I hear those for real here in our forest, and it always gets mine. Then they come hiking down the driveway...

I have several. For a long time the default was "Welcome to the Jungle", which I also used to blast out of my car when I was moving stuff to the squad car to go on patrol. Now the default is Bozo (my Fila X) barking at someone who needed to be barked at.

I tried to cut the Ermey rant at the start of Full Metal Jacket and send it to the phone, but I could not get it to upload for some reason.

I divorced mine long before cell phones came out. She doesn't need to call me for anything. She's already got my money.

I have only one ring tone. It's horrible but it stands out in the crowd. I never have to check my phone if I hear a call tone because no-one else has that horrible noise. It also come in handy when I lose my phone in the house (regularly). I call it from the house phone and as soon as I hear it I rush to kill that noise.

As for different tones for different people, you're joking aren't you. I think it is so petty. As someone said, just look at the phone.

I recorded all of my dogs barking at the same time and use that for my ring. Also have one with the old crank phone. Ring, ring, riiinnnnggg, ring. (that was our old phone number)
Same here one ring tone for all.
