Question What is the Gun industry(not NRA) as a whole doing??

Other than the NRA, what about the gun industry, manufacturers and all the related companies doing to fight these impending new bills or laws??.

Smith Wesson, Ruger, Remington, Colt , who lobbies for them? These proposed bills will certainly hurt the industry if not put some of the smaller companies out of business.

Ammo, gun parts, accessories etc etc. It's about the only part of the economy that is doing well.

Other than making big donations to the NRA and promoting gun safety and training programs I have no idea.

The NRA is the main lobby for the gun industry.

I think the industry is reaping the benefits short term. Long term they are vigorously restocking their depleted product and worried and in some cases, probably preparing to move.

I had ordered an extra magazine for my M&P9c on 12/31, when they were actually in stock. 3 days ago I called to find out how long it would take to ship out (now they are out of stock).

"yeah....that item is probably gonna be awhile....."

Yes, I understand the above but they can fill orders like crazy NOW but what happens if they can not make those guns anymore? Just take SW for example. If any of the drastic proposals go through, they will loose the majority of their products other than some revolvers.

I am think more the likes of the NSSF.

Are there other groups like this??

I don't know about all manufacturers, but Ruger has announced some new products (SR45, SR1911C), Glock has an announcement pending (I think) and others seem to be moving forward with new products. Of course, those have been in the pipeline and haven't been added in the last two months.

I really don't think the gun legislation will go beyond restrictions on "assault rifles" (whatever those are) and magazine capacity limits; maybe some requirements to end private sales at gun shows, or FTF sales, etc. I really don't see outright bans of all guns, or all semi-autos, etc. at this time.

None of the above SHOULD happen, nor will it accomplish a reduction in violence, but then that isn't really their agenda anyway.

Assault weapons aside. If what they consider High capacity magazines, then most semi autos are done!

Seems a 9mm handgun with 2 -18 round mags would be equally as dangerous.

S&W and Glock will have there police contracts. Colt,Sig and Beretta will have there military contract but I think where they make there money is from the public.

They will have to keep selling to the public to keep price down for Government contracts but Washington probably hasn't thought of that yet. I am sure it will be an OSH moment.

The SHOT show is in a week or so I think. It would be interesting to see what the feeling is there.

I wish I could go...

The Assassination's of the '60's and the Texas tower shooting did much to usher in the GCA of '68. In 1989 mass shooting at the Cleveland Elementary School in Stockton, California and the Luby's shooting in 1991 were among mass shootings that prompted the 94' gun ban. Given only the shootings this year, you had to see the current ****storm coming.

They are not convincing "the other half" that a madman with a gun is not the problem, the madman is. Till that gets squared away it's ALL uphill. Joe

Whatever you do, don't get it in +P.
I tried some if that in +P and the gun FLEW out of my hand.

It was Remington high capacity +P.

And to think I was considering the +P+.

Perhaps, but where are the Presidents and CEOS of the major companies? I have not seen their names in the news or statements to Congress. People reply they are just making guns, well how about the long term? Seems like it is an attitude of oh this will all just blow over and go away. Perhaps some Pro action instead of reaction or seat of the pants response. The other side is sure lining up a bunch of Political speak to have to defend against.

SHOT Show is the 15th to 18th. I'm 70/30 on NOT attending. Too many other irons in the fire and getting over the flu.

I was wondering the same thing too... What is the NSSF and the Industry doing?

Some scary times ahead of us I fear.
