AK Keep it or sell ? NMH-91
I just recently purchased a Norinco AK- NMH-91- 7.62x39
It's a heavy barrel with sling and bi-pod included.
It's fully 922R compliant with american made parts.
Very low round count and looks like new.
Got 2- 30 round mags and 7- 10 round mags with the purchase.
This has the 1.5 mil thick reciever as opposed to the more
common 1 mil thick on most Ak/SKS's
Supposedly these are very sought after AK models and reliable,
accurate. In light of possible upcoming (bans), should i trade
into something more conventional or hang onto this for a
"fun gun", Possible coyote, deer rifle ?
Opinions on this and the gun in general are appreciated.
Chuck

when i read the title i thought no, keep alaska you only paid 7.2 million for it ,not like it owes you anything.
if you like it keep it, if you can get something you want more by selling it then thats the answer.
i think a lot of people are buying things they dont really want or need because of all the concern over possible new restrictions.

When SHTF a deer rifle or a revolver are not ideal. Keep it. Lord knows, let's hope you never need it, but be prepared just in case.

I dont have a quasi "assualt" rifle that isnt. If I did own one and it didnt have a paper trail to me, I would keep it. I dont even want one personaly.
I can go buy a batch of 3 or 4 round clips for my 30-06 BAR, or my 30-06 remington pump 760 and I think I would be as formable as anyone with a quasi "assualt" weapon that isnt. Its a "image" thing to my way of thinking in the real world.
If you already got that stuff its a good investment. Truth is at worst I think the rifles will be grandfathered in, possibly the 30 round magazines you wont want to be caught with. So now if you just have a quasi "Assault" weapon that isnt, just how much better off will that AK or AR 15 be than my 30-06s with both of us with short magazines? Kind of a stupid discussion, isnt it? As I said, in that case its all about image!

Good points brought up feralmerril and Statesrightist.
I'm kinda torn. If they outlaw mags above 10 rds. then
i'll be stuck with a 10 rd. AK
Just so many variables to consider right now. I'm still
undecided. have'nt got to shoot it yet but will this weekend.
Thanks, Chuck

Who knows what (if anything) will be "outlawed". I very seriously doubt that 30 round mags will be outlawed without grandfathering the ones out there. Of course, that is a huge loophole making a ban worthless. Especially so since the magazine manufacturers are working 24/7 to pump out as many as possible. I own 10 30 rounders and ordered 10 more. I think most folks are ASSUMING that there will be a grandfather clause. I had two AR-15s 2 weeks ago. I determined i didn't need two and traded one. I got a slight premium, but no where near the 2-2½ times I see some folks asking. If I were you, I guess i would keep what I have and try and get more magazines.
By all means, get a quantity of ammunition, at a minimum 1000 rounds.

Sell it now for an obscene profit and buy it back when the madness calms down for half what you sold it for.

chud333, Other than the longer barrel it is an AK and as such if you are prepping any at all I would keep it. I would get a few more mags for it. They haven't gone totally stupid on price like the AR mags and can still be bought in the $20-25 range.
On the 10 round mag thing, in a couple of hours in my shop I can have all of my considerable 20 and 30 rd mags compliant with a wood spacer in the springs.
