A good time to take up reloading
After watching the news and listening to all the know nothing talking heads I have come to the conclusion if your not now reloading and casting bullets now would be a great time to get started as I believe the prices for this equipment will skyrocket. Jeff

I have always believed that a serious shooter should handload his own ammunition. I've been doing it for...a long time. Since I was in high school. The only excuse for not handloading is that you only shoot .22 rimfire.

I have reloaded rifle and pistol ammo since I was a kid for the quality, enjoyment, and money saved. Those are my reasons.

It's always good to take up reloading but now is a terrible time as there is nothing to be found, It's like the great primer shortage of 4 years ago. You may be able to get a press but primers are scarce. The only way to go is buy primers and powder in bulk in one shipment to pay one stupid haz mat fee.
Everything brass, bullets etc is very short supply if any.

Good luck finding components. Anyway, it will only be a matter of time before they come after reloading as well.

I've heard mention through a highly reliable source that there's also other legislation in the works.
Listen to this:
This legislation will state that any individual in possession of more than 100 rounds of ammo at any one time will be guilty of a felony.
It also covers a certain amount (100 also, I believe) of cases, primers, powder, and bullets to where having more than the allowed amount will constitute a felony.

Now would be a good time to 'watch those how-to videos' on reloading. As gregintenn said good luck in finding components, powder..especially primers. The other night I found 500 CCI small pistol from the 80's, going to fire those boys up. Good Luck with the quest.

I don't see anything like that flying, but then again, I've said that a lot lately. If, by chance, it does, I WILL NOT COMPLY. Not sure how the rest of you feel about it.

I had some small pistol primers that I bought in 1957 [CCI] loaded them & all fired. Good things to have.

Components a-plenty in these parts.
Might just go for a(nother) brick of each when the sheckels become available.
Maybe a little bullseye, some unique... a can of 231, some more 748. You get the idea.
I'm not stoppin' and I ain't givin' up.

I don't save a single penny by reloading..... I just send a lot more lead down range for that money.

I revived my shooting/reloading hobby.
I revived my hobby just in time to get caught up in this mess.

I decided in 1979 that I couldn't afford to shoot factory ammunition. It hasn't gotten any cheaper or (lately) more available since then.
I've got 5,000+ .38 Special cases alone.

In the words of Sponge Bob, "Good luck with that!"
As I'm fond of saying in the online newspaper comments sections, "NO, I REFUSE. I guess you'll have to think of something else."

I've been thinking of reloading for awhile. The last time I reloaded was in the late 70's early 80's. This month I had enough funds to buy a Lee kit, accessories, bullets and powder but no primers. While trying to figure out which kit to buy, the anniversary kit went out of stock. I couldn't hit 'add to cart' fast enough. Next day, the same kit went out of stock.
Its now in shipping limbo. Email said 8-10 days but I'm thinking a few weeks. Oh, my neighbor knows a guy who knows a guy that is connected to a major supplier. How lucky is that?

I'm starting to get a little low on my large pistol primers. I have about 250 primers to go before I have to break open one of my 5000 primer cases. I'm not hoarding primers. I just planned ahead.

The only reason I shoot is to support my reloading/bullet casting hobbies.

Guys if they try some off the wall stunts like listed above just ask your self where will they put everybody? Our jails in this state are full and running over with people with the county jails holding the excess until something opens up in the state pens. Jrm53
