SHOT Show 2013
It is that time of year again. All the new innovations will be on display in Las Vegas and I will again be posting what I can in this thread each evening.
I arrived in Vegas yesterday morning and spent time with an old friend. BTY, it was 24 degrees out when my plane touched down at 11AM.
While SHOT opens to the public on Tuesday, Monday is the eight annual "Media Day at the Range". The press will have to opportunity to shoot many of the new and some of the old offerings from Manufacturers. I will be boarding the bus shortly for the half hour drive to the shooting facility in Bounder City. The high today is expected to be 38 degrees, I have been in Florida too long to spend 8 hours in 38 degree or less weather
You can bet there will be some photos and news posted here tonight.

It has been in the mid 80's for weeks here, I would love some 38 degree weather!

Day one is over
The new Golck 30s handled well. It will be popular for concealed carry. I also shot the new 10MM, I love 10MM, very accurate little pistol though it wil not be for every body.
Crimson Trace had two new lines. There is now an economy line of laser grips. Hard polymer and a manual on off switch, but the MSRP is about half the price of the standard grips.
Also many old favorites are now being offered in GREEN. I handled the new GREEN model 305 for the S&W J-frames.
There will be more after I get a bite of dinner.

Colt will be offering the pistol that the USMC ordered as a cataloged item. It has a great trigger right out of the box and shoots fantastic. Bieng a 1911 lover I might be a bit biased

I have that on order. That said, what, if anything, does S&W have for us this year?

Smith & Wesson had an interesting new M&P Pro. The pistol has a removable plate infront of the rear sight. It is supplied with 5 mounting brackets for the most popular red dots.
The texture of the grips has been modified. They worked great wearing gloves.

The new Walther PPK/s in 22LR was on hand. It was much better made than what I was expecting.
Unfortunatly the magazines do not interchange with older PP or PPK/s 22s. I was hoping for a cheap magazibe supply for my older guns.

SIG has a new 45......the P227
I handled the tactical version which ships with a threaded barrel and a 14 round magazine.
The new pistol is designed aroound the P250 magazines. So plenty are out there.
Four versions are going to be availble. An E2 with 4.4" barrel, the SAS with a 3.9" barrel and no rail, The carry with 3.9" barrel and a rail and finally the tactical pictured above.
The P227 frame will accept any P220 top end.
This is going to get interesting

Has Lipsey's unveiled their new Ruger Exclusives yet? Supposed to be a rifle and a handgun.
*****I just checked Lipsey's fb page. They are showing a Bearcat Shopkeeper in stainless with a 3-inch barrel and a birds head grip. I'll have to have one, I guess. Also a .22 mag RSI 77/22 blue/walnut full stock.

The 227 looks interesting, is it polymer framed? I like the Colt too, looks a lot like the Springfield Operator.......which stands to reason since they are both purpose built.

A couple videos on Youtube now from the Shot Show. Like the new Ruger Commander sized 1911.
Colt SAA, love the picture of the Glock being shot and the shell casing flying through the air.

It's certainly worth a look then! I wasn't terribly happy with my 250, and it ended up trading stock.

It appears to be well made out of some alloy. It is availble in flat black or stainless finishes.
one cool plus is that the barrel is threaded and capped. with the addition of a 10mm to 1/2x28 adapter it is supressor friendly

The S&W Gunsmoke looks to have a variation of the Barami Hip Grip.

Cabot is known for thier top shelf 1911s. Well here is something unusual. They call it the Southpaw. It is a lefty 1911. Everything is reversed.
It shoots and functions flawlessly. Though it was a bit disconcerting to see brass going the wrong way

Zombie Hunters, this is for you.
A nice 12 gauge that mounts on the picanty rail of your favorite firearm.
The recieve is alloy and the addition of the 12 gauge does not alter the balance of the firearm by very much

absolutly it is an AOW as shipped. I need to ask if they have a letter from Technical Branch saying that it remains an AOW once if it attached to a rifle stock

The Wyatt deep cover, how is it an improvement over a 642? Shame on you S&W,And a PC revolver to boot.My question is when they hack on a 637 like they did on the show what happens to the warranty? Are they a warranty center?

Did you watch, "American Gun" on Discovery? I think that Rich Wyatt, the gunshop owner in the show, got together with S&W to make this version of a M-637 or whatever the parent gun is.
I'm underwhelmed. I think that a lot of what that shop does is just to generate profit. But some will like the new gun, I'm sure. Ths one may or may not be the one from the show. But that's tha only Wyatt connection that comes to mind. I hope the show gets renewed. I liked his daughter...

I'm underwhelmed. I think that a lot of what that shop does is just to generate profit. But some will like the new gun, I'm sure. Ths one may or may not be the one from the show. But that's tha only Wyatt connection that comes to mind. I hope the show gets renewed. I liked his daughter...

I think their shop is called Gunsmoke. I would not buy the gun based on anything I saw on that show!

Personally I do not consider the model 37 to be an improvement over a Centennial for pocket/purse/deep cover work.
If a shop customizes your revolver the warranty is void.
However this is a Factory offering and will be backed buy the full faith and credit of Smith & Wesson
