Default Long Term Storage

I may need step-by-step instructions on storing "stuff" long term. It needs to be readily accessible in case of an "emergency" like the Zombie Invasion (lololol) but away from the prying eyes of curious or insistent "children".

Get my drift??

Somewhere I read a test report of how to seal guns and stuff up in pcv pipe and how it worked out. Supposedly they buried it a few years. Hopefully someone might have that article saved somewhere.

When it's time to bury em, I expect it's about time to dig em up.

The best long term storage I have ever used is to coat the inside & outside of a firearm with RIG Universal Grease, wrap in waxed paper and then again in aluminum foil. The gun will be protected for many many many years to come.

Shorter term storage :

I use Rig #2 Oil and store said gun in a cool dry safe. Will last a few years with no additional treatment as long as the environment is controlled somewhat. This is a much more readily accessible method but will not have any where near the longevity of the RIG Universal grease.

Default Long Term Storage

I've started using my wife's Food Saver. I remove the ammo from the box but keep it in the egg crate, throw in a silica packet, then vacuum seal the bag. It then goes in my dry box.

Out if curiousity I tried it with my SD40 and it worked quite well.

Bury a gun and ammo for 15 years by Charles Wood Issue #115

TC 31-29 Special Forces - Caching Techniques : Free Download & Streaming : Internet Archive

Download the above as a PDF. Soldier of Fortune bundled free copies with an issue back around the 94 ban. The first article also details a gun stashed early 90 s and retrieved 15 years later.

You know, that PVC pipe looks exactly like the waste pipes in the basement. My guess is that an extra pipe in a corner somewhere would not look a bit out of place...

A friend of mine in Austraila said that when their ban went into effect, that PVC pipe and truck tire tubes were nowhere to be found! Ivan
