Renewed my CPL today
Washington CPL is good for 5 years then needs to be renewed and you have to do it in person. They give you a 90 day window before it expires to get that done. I've been down to the county office twice to do this but both times the line was unbelievable!! So this time I got there at 8am as they open at 8:30am and I thought I would beat the crowd - 27 people had the same idea and were already there!! The county has 5 desks to handle this, but only have 2 people to do the processing. Makes sense to me???...anyway after 45 minutes I got "processed" but only because I was getting a renewal - they can only do so many new applications before the line gets to long for fingerprinting, so they took all of us doing renewals first - thank the lord for that or I'd still be standing in line down there. What a nuthouse - when I left the line was all the way around the corner and backed up into the main hallway. I'll bet the last one in line won't get processed until after 4pm if at all.
Is it like that everywhere?
Pete

Mine is due this year too....April. I'll get 'er done next month. There was no waiting at all when I went to downtown Seattle to get mine 5 years ago. I'll see what the line is like this year! I honestly hope it is long, that means there are tons of folks exercising their rights. Even if they are late to the game I say "Welcome!"

Yes they are welcome - just didn't think there were going to be that many - and the lady working the line said it's been like this since BO got elected the first round. I thought to myself, if that is true why don't we have some help here to process these people, then I remembered that all the parking is street & metered with 1 and 2 hour meters. Guess the meter maids could have a hayday with all of us. Expired meter fine = $15 - dumb like a fox this Spokane county. And yes, five years ago when I walked in to renew there was no line - in fact I was the only one there.

I'm glad to hear the line was long too. The more the better. I renewed mine last year and was in and out with my new CLP in 10 minutes. My counties sheriffs office is pretty CPL friendly and that makes it a good expierence. I just hope I can still get one in 4 years.
