If you can stand digging around on their web site, you can find that they are still promoting a "Tactical" area of the show.

Home - Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show

The show website still lists S&W and others as exhibitors and some of the "ad space" (e.g. West Hall shows Rugers) show the logos of Companies that have pulled the plug. I know they may be legally obligated by contract to allow this, but how many unwitting people won't really know until the show... Sure would be nice if they could get the names pulled completely from the website.......

Well, that does it for me! I'll start looking for my next S&W
right away. Am also glad to see other vendors on the list,
that I utilise. Time to do something nice for them, too.

I thought it was going to say that Smith and Wesson wimped out to government wishes like they did in the early 2000s. Go Smith and Wesson. You always made great guns, now you have your management head on right, too. I'm proud to be and S&W owner.

I was just on Ruger's Facebook page and they have indeed pulled out.
(posted in a response under the "Protect Your Rights" link)

The list grows . . . over 200 last I checked (edit: okay that was overstated number, I think).

Have to wonder just how many exhibitors there are, and how long it will be before the list of no-shows outnumbers the participants?

The show is not showing any exhibitors as no shows... They are still listing them as attending... pretty low in my opinion

Okay, not sure how accurate but a quick search came up with a figure of 1,200 exhibitors.

If this is accurate they have already lost about 17% of their exhibitors, and I expect that number to rise before it levels out.

And that pecentage doesn't reflect the fact that the biggest participants are the ones most likely to cancel out either to make a statement or out of fear of negative association.

I just looked at the REED web site and you are correct. Hopefully S&W and other manufacturers will let NSSF know how they feel about having a company like REED promoting the largest firearms related trade show in the world.

I live in PA and I'm close enough to attend the show in Harrisburg and have done so many times in the past. I will not be attending this year as a protest. I'm glad to see S&W, Ruger, the NRA and scores of others doing the right thing. I will not cheapen what they are doing by attending the show!

I too have written to S&W and Ruger to thank them.

Going to this site I see that Progressive Insurance and Comcast are sponsors of the show. I have emailed both firms suggesting they reconsider their sponsorship. If the show is a big enough disaster, maybe the media will take notice.

A point of clarification on Bass Pro, they pulled out before the display ban was announced because of a parking disagreement.

withdrawl list was at 191 at 0030 today.

Everyone should follow the lead of the pull-out vendors and boycott the show. Hit 'em in the wallet where it most matters, and see how fast the message gets across.

Default Ruger's statement on their FB page

Ruger has decided not to attend the upcoming Eastern Sports Show. We are very frustrated by Reed Exhibitions' foolish decision to ban the display of modern sporting rifles. We feel that, as one of America's firearms manufacturers, we must withdraw from the show as a commitment to the 2nd Amendment rights of our customers. Nonetheless, we are very disappointed not to be attending the Eastern Sports Show. We were looking forward to attending the show for the first time this year and meeting and supporting the 200,000+ sportsmen and women that attend this great celebration of the outdoors. We hope the show will be successful for the many outfitters and other vendors who depend on the show for their annual business.

Edit: Sorry about "there" instead of "their" in the subject line. Can't edit that line after posting.

Default Only six "Featured Exhibitors" left

The list of "Featured Exhibitors" is down to six. I believe there were ten to start with: Eastern Sports Show Exhibitor Search Results

One of the big ones is Yamaha. Might help to contact them and express your displeasure at their support for the show.

This was to be my first visit to the ESOS, but my wife and I and two other couples have changed our minds. Here is a list of vendors that have pulled out of the show. This may have been posted before. The NRA added their name a couple of hours ago.

Progressive Insurance will not pull out, they are as their name implies , a company owned by a very "Progressive" owner. They are leftist supporting as the day is long..

Just hitting their Facebook page - hot off the presses...
O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc, America’s oldest, family-owned firearms manufacturer, today announces that the company will not attend or support the 2013 Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania due to Reed Exhibitions’ continued refusal to reconsider their decision to ban Modern Sporting Rifles. The company in good conscience cannot attend or endorse this year’s show.

Our company’s position on the 2nd Amendment is unwavering and steadfast, therefore, we are unable to support any organization or event that prohibits the display or sale of legal firearms. We stand united with our loyal customers and supporters in this constitutional right and had only hoped for a different outcome.

Smile withdrawal from ESOS

Thank You Smith & Wesson for starting the ball rolling. We need more Companies to stand up for our rights and the second amendment. We cannot let the anti gun politicians strip what our for-fathers created. Thanks to the NRA and SWCA and proud to be members of a fine organization that will fight for preserving our Constitution.

I wrote to S&W and received an immediate response. (Maybe they know how many of their guns I have??? )

I suspect they are being SWAMPED with thank you emails and that is a GOOD THING!

Let them know you support them!

Default Take time to thank those who are withdrawing

I have contacted a dozen or so of those who have withdrawn and they are really pleased to hear from us. One sharp company in Ohio (Mogadore) TenPoint Crossbows, cancelled their involvement and is purchasing lifetime NRA memberships for their employees instead.

It is really heartwarming to see so many companies who are not directly in the gun trade pulling out of this show. It speaks volumes about the quality of many of the firms involved in the markets we patronize.

We can't buy from all of them, but we can certainly let them know how much their actions are appreciated.

Default WHAT HAPPENED TO COMCAST ????????

Hey this may be really good news. Just looked at ESOS website and the only sponsor logo at the bottom of the page is now "Progressive" where last night the same space showed both Progressive and "COMCAST". Can anyone shed light on this??

Also notice that they are hyping "Free Parking" with luxury shuttle busses.

The plot thickens. Notice on the Eastern Sport Show site that the major sponsor is Progressive Insurance.

Peter Lewis, the chairman of the board of Progressive Insurance, son of the company's founder, and CEO of the company for many years, gave $15,000,000 to the ACLU in 2001-2003, $5,500,000 to moveon.org (an amount matched by George Soros, his good friend and political mentor), and was a heavy contributor, with Soros, to the Obama Presidential campaign in 2008 and again, in 2012.

I'm guessing Eastern's decision was welcomed by its major sponsor....ya' think?

An exhibitor with some of the largest space is sportsmansliquiators.com and they are not listed as pulling out. Anyone ever heard of them?

Edit: I was wrong they just posted a notice on their website that they will not be attending:

I just sent an e-mail to the CT office of Reed show promoters telling them that a large number of the sportsmen from this area will NOT be attending (people I have talked to anyway) Everyone should not go!

Sportsmans Liquidation has decided to withdrawal from exhibiting at the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show due to Modern Sporting Rifle Ban
January 23, 2013 - 19:35
they are a medium size retailer. They sell a lot of older/New old stock fishing equipment but their hunting items appear to be recent items. Worth visiting if there's one in your area. Good prices. The one here in Winchester has some great people and prices.

Impressed by the personalities that have pulled out also. That's just as huge as the companies. I know a lot of people that go just to meet them.

Thanks for the link to Liz Sharp @ S&W. She responded in a half hour, and appreciates our support.

I sent an email to S & W. I called Customer Service at Cabela's and thanked the person who answered the phone. I requested that she pass on my thank you to the powers that be. She told me that Cabela's name is still on some of the information, but Cabela's will NOT be there!

We need to wholeheartedly support all these companies that drop out, and PUNISH any that don't understand the import of the Second Amendment!

Who the hell do they think their customers are?
