Id be happy to be able to fire off 100 rounds, but have no need to breeze through an entire brick in one sitting.

You can put be on the list as part of the problem.
During the week I pretty much have the entire Club to myself. I can shoot for hours at our Plinking range bouncing around soda caps and cans with my bolt action Savage and Ruger pistol and never get bored.

When all I had was a bolt action, single shot 22 rifle, 50 rds per session was pretty standard.
I bought an M&P22 last July and shoot at least 300 rds every time I take it to the range, at least 500 if my wife comes along and shoots. According to my logs, we shot 6000 rds between 10 July and 20 Dec last year.
So, at a 1000 rds a month, yea, we contribute.

I just recieved an e-mail notice for ammo now in stock including .22 at INCREDIBLE savings!
.22 sub sonic going for $10 per 50. Incredible ??!!
Give me a break. The vendor will remain un-named to prevent bashing.

I've been stocking ammo ever since slick willie was made idiot in chief. Just got through shooting the last of my chinese 7.62X39. The reason I started to really stock up was the suggestion from my wife as we watched the LA riots.

I spent the weekend at the Crossroads Show in Phoenix. There was plenty of 22 ammo available and you could have bought as much as you wanted.
However; the rip off price gougers were still very much in evidence asking $10 on up for a box of 50.
As soon as the majority of buyers come to their senses and realize there is no real shortage the gougers will be out of business and prices will drop back down to some semblance of normal.
I also noted that small pistol primers are now under $30 for 1000 again and I also saw brand new AR 15s for under $600.
