I hear Dorner had one... Did he get it legally? Are they legal in California?

No they aren't. And last night Bill Maher spouted more left wing non-sense....he said he was upset that Dorner was an ex cop but was still legally allowed to buy anything active police do, including machine guns and rocket launchers.

Broadcasters during the final shootout were also claiming Dorner was using a Barrett .50, and I haven't heard anything specific, or accurate, about his weapons yet. I couldn't help thinking during the live broadcasts that the talking heads were trying to disparage a rifle, the Barrett .50, which is already illegal in California. Standby for a lot of anti-gun people trying to make hay off this one, they never let a crisis go to waste.

They're not even legal for LEO's to own. The department can own it but a person cannot, even then personal use is prohibited. But there's a lot of look the other way here....

Not sure around Hollywierd Ca, but belt fed machine guns are "patrol rifles" and RPG's are "patrol shot guns" around here.

Really a Barrett .50???? What a moron. That would be the last gun you would want being on the run.

In Pa. retired cops have to qualify once a year with our rocket launchers. Twice a year with the machine guns. Can't be too safe.

One report I read said he was using an assault rifle with a flash hider which suppressed the rifle report and made it difficult to hear his weapon.

Likely written by a gun ignoramous.

Dorner also had an address in Las Vegas. Now you get into the "state residency" and states' rights bunfight. He could well have bought a suppressor based on his NV residency. If he takes it across state lines to where they are banned, that's his problem.
