Right around $22 each there just in melt value, numismatic value aside.

Not much debate about the trade there for me, either.

On 2/6/13 I purchased 800 rounds of CCI for $47.24 which includes Tax.

I'd keep the 2 Morgans and 2 Peace dollars, but if the supply was not available I may reconsider.

About 1981 when the hunt brothers tried to corner the silver market I lost my butt at a critical time of my life buying silver on margin. I belive it was about $15,000s! These people that are buying $3,000 ARs, and paying 3X too much for ammo might feel later like I did when the silver fell back down. Cripes, how many people bought 300 grand houses that you cant sell for 120 grand now? I dont waste my time stepping in a gun shop or going to a gunshow in these times. (Unless I want to sell something)
That $15,000s would be like loseing $38,000s today. But thats the least of it. $15,000 invested in the stock market back then would water your eyes on what it should be worth now. Probley could almost retire early on it.

I just rechecked my statement about silver. It was january of 1980. Silver had climbed from $11s a ounce up to over $50s a ounce. Then it crashed back down to under $11s a ounce again. At first I made a little money playing it. Then as it began to fall I bought more trying to hang on. I was wiped out and was just married with a kid. Dont fall for this "stuff"! Nothing but nothing keeps going up forever.

I have a friend who, on the tail end of the bubble burst, bought into a little bit of silver at around $10 an ounce.

His "little bit" of silver consisted of 100 toz bars of .999 silver. He bought 120 of them. I'll let you do the math as to how much silver that was-he told me that he brought them into the house in 5-gallon drywall buckets, and stacked them in a corner of the basement like a pile of bricks.

Shortly after he bought them, silver dropped even further, and finally bottomed out at about $8 an ounce. A $2/ounce drop tends to be pretty significant on 120,000 ounces of silver.

As he, apparently, didn't need the money(must be nice!) he instead sat on them for a number of years, and started selling them off a few at a time as silver prices rose. In May of 2011, silver courted $50 an ounce for just about half a day(I think it came within a few pennies) and my friend sold the last four bars of his horde that day. He timed that just right, as the price fell back down into upper $20/lower $30 range shortly thereafter where it has stayed pretty steadily since.

Absolutely.

The price of .22 will come down before too long. That brick will be worth about $25-$30.

I have bulk packs of Federal and GB. How many will ya be wantin'.

Investing, when everyone is in the same boat there is little to be made, pay attention to the guy in the dingey by himself.

Default WTT....Ok, meybe.

Make it 6 old silver dollars and you gottem. We're pretty well stocked with alot of the most common calibers down here in Georgia if you know where to look. 223 & 556 are scarce. Those people that "just had to have" one of those "evil lil black rifles" to spray bullets with, that can't find extra ammo must be about to go into "DT'S" right about now. Me, I'm just a revolver, bolt action kinda guy. Call your shots, make your shots count.

Heck, I've even got an old black powder rifle, can cast my own bullets if I need to. Just gotta buy more powder if I'm runnin' low. It'll shoot the head off a squirrel at 50 yds with good rest.
And that has exactly what to do with the OP's question?

I would meet the guy at a reputable coin shop and on proper evaluation trade every box I had of .22LR for that.

The only reason I say get it checked is there is alot more fake Morgan's and Peace dollars floating around. Wanna know how I know?

About 25 years ago I had a embaressing con pulled on me. I came out of store and a super sharp knock out attractive blond stopped me. She also had one of the finest demeaner and dierre you seldom see. She explained she was moveing and something happened to her car and she now didnt have gas to get where she was going. She was selling some of her coin collection off. They were silver dollars that looked professionaly wrapped in plastic etc. I knew nothing about value, had no book of values. It didnt sound too bad what she wanted apiece for them plus another old couple she was talking to as I walked up bought one or two.
I cant remember the price she wanted apiece but lets say it was $15s. Didnt sound like I would get hurt too bad and it also sounded like I just might make out. Think I bought three of them. Later I took them to a coin shop to see how I did. They were the very most common ones in the book and it sounded like I paid about four times what I should have!
