I started with and still love 1911's, so I like exposed hammer guns. I like the Sig 220's with the hammer decocker even better. On internal hammer/striker pistols, I would think lock times would be faster with a striker. I do know on shotguns, internal hammers fail to cock sometimes as gunk builds with age and wear & tear, that usually would be easier to take care of on a pistol, maybe. By the way, try to do better than a Bersa if there is any way you can. Even the old Beritta 1934's were a lot better. Design and quality have always lagged behind, which is reflected in the price. I'm a traditionalist, prefer hammer fired. 1911s and Hk USPc .45, Browning HP, S&W 645, 439...
