Recoil ??
Hi:
Dropped by the local gun shop this afternoon. Decided to fire my Model 638. The only ammo I had was Remington 130 grain FMC ammo (Wal-Mart). Fired at 7, 15, and 25 yards. Good accuracy.
However the recoil seem somewhat "Sharp" for a target load ?
I have "Barami Hip Grips" on the Model 638.
Opinions?
Jimmy

Were you holding low on the grip?

I switched to Pachmayr Compact grips and they enabled me to get a higher, firmer grip on my 442.

Same here on my 640. It's a big help with old arthritic hands, and not hard to conceal.

Jframes can be thumpers, and those 130s are kinda hot from my experience.

I tried those pretty little wooden panel stocks on my 640 in place of the rubber grip that came with them. After shooting some really stout Double-Tap loads (158gr .357mag) I decided I'd switch back to the ugly old factory grips. Here's video of the experience.
