Exclamation Protect Your Power

A few years ago a customer was the victim of a home invasion. They were targeted simply because they appeared to have a lot of money.

Police suspect the invaders watched the couple to learn their habits. They simply turned off power to the home outside at the meter and broke down the front door while they slept.

The couple said that the door was breached at the same time the power was turned off indicating this was a coordinated effort. They had an alarm system with a battery backup but it hadn't been checked for quite a while and it was bad.

So...... Protect your power. Padlock it if possible. If the power company doesn't like it, tough.

It seems like the past few years, home invasions have become a common thing in King County, and most of Western Washington. I carry when I'm home, I lock all my guns up when I leave, and we let the neighbors know when we will be gone. We also have our kids and grandkids come by at various times to check on stuff and change the lights around. No newspaper delivery here, the mail is in a locked box, and our two watchdogs bark at the least sound (irritating, but there it is). Good thought on locking the power. It seems that a person of ill intent could knock the meter off with a sledgehammer.....that would light them up pretty well though!

My wife woke me up in the middle of the night last week as the alarm pad was beeping. I reset it and it showed bat which meant my battery had gone bad. Thrity five dollars later at Batteries Plus and I was good to go again. I wonder if this couple ignored their battery alarm.
I'm not so worried about the main power being cut as the battery will run the system and horn. An alarm system is no good if not maintained.

There are now systems that work off cell towers instead of land lines. Cutting the telephone line does not disable the system. Larry

On some systems, mainly older one's, there is no warning that the battery is low.

We're talking power. Even cell back ups need power.

It's simple. According to Joe Biden, "Buy a shotgun! "Buy a shotgun"!" Shoot through through the door! Just shoot through the door!" How well did that work out? Ignore it if you must to be P.C. but it's still the truth!!
