Question revolver finish question?

Dear s&w forum, i have a revolver finish question why are stainless steel finished revolvers easier to clean compared to revolvers that are blued or nickel finished?

Stainless steel is nice because there really is no finish other than the final polish or bead blast. So, if a dirty cylinder face isn't to a guys liking,he can go after it with a treated cloth or a mag wheel polish with no worries. As the rest of the gun gets dings and scratches, they can be cleaned up with abrasive pads or polish too

I agree with arjay. The only thing is I won't buy any gun thats laser etched instead of rollmarked. It's too easy to eradicate the markings when you need to really clean the gun. I notice newer RIA's are laser etched. That probably makes it easier to brand the gun with different manufacturers logos but I think it looks like ****.

Down here in hot humid sub tropics, Stainless is forever! (well almost) Any scratch or ding I can fix. Not so with Blued or Nickel

Blued is perhaps nicer looking, I hate Nickel as there is no fixing it once it clouds or scratches.

stainless steel finished revolvers
First stainless is not a finish it's the type of material the revolver is produced from. When you clean a stainless steel revolver you are cleaning the material the revolver is made from, not a FINISH that has been placed over the steel the revolver has been made from.

Blue is beautiful but when carried daily takes a beating, that wear and scratch on a blue finish will bring a tear to many.

Stainless is beautiful, but much easier to take care of, scratch removal and overall general cleaning. A more durable material for everyday carry

The warm climate owners, they all know which to carry.

And of course, some don't care about the finish at all, just want to use it for its intended purpose, protection.

I own both, but stainless is usually the one that is my traveling companion, always.
