Default Too many Line of Duty Deaths!

Scott County Sheriff Cody Carpenter and Arkansas Game & Fish Commission Officer Joel Campora were attempting to rescue two women whose house was surrounded on all sides by the rapid flooding of the Fourche La Fave river.

Some accounts say as the Officers arrived at the house it was swept away by the force of the water. Sheriff Carpenter's body has been recovered but Officer Campora and the two women remain missing in the flood waters.

Heroes go in harms way to help others.

Any death in the line of duty is one too many. Two at a time is especially awful. RIP.

The dedication of first responders always amazes me, it does indeed take a very special kind of person.

Prayers to the lives lost. I don't know the details but I hope the women didn't just stay and ignore warnings to leave, that would be a shame for the lost LEO, that happens too many times with all types of disasters. Again prayers to the family's of all those lost.

In the words of the Lord Jesus Christ: "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13)

The power of rushing water: one of the most easily underestimated forces of nature. We would all do well to remember this, and take from this tragedy a renewed appreciation of its power.

God Bless our first responders and their families.
