Dueling target tree
 

Anyone know someone who builds steel target trees or a place to purchase for a reasonable price. Will be shooting 45 pistol

I bought a set of the round hang style a few years back. He also makes dueling tress plus some others. Super high quality. Have taken everything we put to mine, pistol rifles up to 8mm military ammo. Just need another coat of paint.

There is also LETargets, and Reaction Targets. I found this one for Salute Targets nice, but by the time you add 3 targets it'll put it up to around $600+shipped.

I've had an MGM Dueling tree for a few years. .45 acp is no issue.

This is after 2 years of use. About all it needs is some paint.

MGM Targets, Boise, Idaho. Great stuff!

I just hang old circular saw blades suspended from a wire off a 1" PVC pipe rack I built for my cardboard targets. Seem to work fine, the wire allows hits to deflect to the ground below safely out behind the old barn.

I don't know why I came into this thread. I was up in the air about what to use some money on, which was burning a hole in my pocket. Decided on getting this instead of a steel target.

I have a dueling tree (six targets) that I bought from Gander Mtn in the store for ~$100. I've shot everything from .22 (which won't swing it) to .44 mag (which will) at it over the last year and I've never noticed any damage structurally.

I don't think it's top of the line and I don't use it all the time due to the fact that it's annoying to lug out to the range but when I've used it, I've been very happy.

I bought it on impulse (Do-All Traps 9mm - 30/06 Caliber Steel Roundup Dueling Tree Target - I think that's the one) and after doing a little research, it gets pretty mixed reviews. Most of the negatives focus on heavier use or higher calibers but some just cite the inexpensive materials of construction. I doubt it would be reliable enough for extended, heavy use. For my occasional sessions, it's just about right and I won't fee like I threw my money down the drain if it were to break the next time out.

I suspect that this is not a "buy once, cry once" type product that I've got.

I've built them for local law enforcement. Not hard to make. Any good local fab shop should be able to help you.

Buckskin59, nice work...the pipe that your plates pivot in...if you had put a slight angle cut on the top (for a detent), the plates, when hit, would have to raise slightly when swinging from side to side. This "locks" them in position so that they stay put.

By having the slight forward lean accomplishes the same result.
If I need to adjust I can tilt the base forward for more resistant.
Tilt it back for less. :)
