Do we have any drama (tv show) fans?
Are any of you fans of drama tv shows? I am talking shows such as NCIS, CSI, American Idol, survivor, etc. For me I am tired of it. I prefer action to drama. Miami Vice over CSI. I am not sure what it is but the arguing between the AI judges and the bickering on survivor, it just takes away from the show. I am not just picking on these shows because it happens in my car tv shows as well such as overhaulin' and Pinks. What do you think? What will come next after the drama fad passes? I miss the comedy sitcom.

Today's silly comedies and "reality" shows leave me cold and I refuse to watch any of them.
I was spoiled years ago on good private eye TV along with great westerns.
"Special" effects are terrible and some of the 'stunts', as stated above, are impossible in real life and prove nothing except the director preferred computer generated junk to real stunt people.
I guess I'm just getting old but most of today's video, movies and TV and extremely poorly done.
And whats with the sound??? I can watch a Bogart movie from the late 1940's and hear every word and sound. Try watching a movie made today and the sound is all over the place from a whisper to shouting. All the time with a full orchestra playing in the foreground!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only drama series I enjoy these days is "The Americans" on FX. A bit over the top, but it's a good period spy drama, particularly for old Cold Warriors.

Things have changed
Reality shows are not what I call drama. I guess you could call reality shows 'forced drama'. We enjoy 'NCIS' around our house.
Also these days 'action' shows are a continuous excuse for blowing things up and shooting all over the place with sparks flying when copper jacketed bullets hit a wooden wall. I miss the old TV anthology shows that had a new story and different actors each week. I liked TV when it was a 'vast wasteland'.

Best 2 shows I've seen on tv in a while have both been on AMC channel. The Walking Dead is pretty good if you enjoy watching zombies (plus seeing the main character wield a Colt Python every episode always makes me smile.)
The other show is Hell on Wheels which is an interesting western set in 1865. 3rd season is suppose to be airing late spring.

The 2 best dramas on television recently would have to be "Suits" and the Netflix series "House of cards" with Kevin Spacy. excellently written, acted and contemporary but above all ,it does not attempt to insult your intelligence by dumbing down the scripts with overly simplistic plots and sub plots. A refreshing change from the usual fare.

We have all but given up on commercial TV. We DVR Criminal Minds and a couple of the CSI shows so we can skip the commercials and that's it and we are just about ready to quit that. What we are starting to get into is the series on cable tv. We order it for one or two seasons at a time on NetFlix and watch it all in a few days. Just finished Justified thru season 3. Just can't go the one episode per week rout.
Other than that our TV is just monitor for DVD, Blue ray and a few old VHS tapes we have and play now and then.
Lets face it, all the good tv shows have been done. Reality shows are awful and not fit to watch. I believe we are facing a real home entertainment crisis and I believe it will be coming along any time now.

Oh yeah me too! If anyone hasn't seen it you need to check it out. I also like Duck Dynasty- Si is my favorite, The Walking Dead, Falling Skies and the Strike Back series on cinemax. If you haven't seen Strike Back, It is really action packed. The stunts, shooting are really good. It is for adults only and does portray sex and nudity, but wow is it a good one to follow. I like the music track too. Anyone that has seen that show will probably say the same.
