LGS had a customer bring in a nice RM and trade it straight across for an AR15 during the current hysteria.
Owner retained it in his personal collection.

That's a heck of a trade! Never underestimate the stupidity and impulsiveness of panic buyers.

A buddy and fellow forum member found one on gun broker a while back. It was incorrectly listed on there, under something like "Registered Smith and Wesson 357."
I think he got it for either $1300 or $1500. He got a letter had been back to the factory once or twice, had the barrel changed too. It turned out to have history; it was shipped to the first head of the KS highway patrol/state police.

You could get a brand new one, in any barrel length from 3.5-8.75, with box and certificate, for only $60.00!
In 1935!!!

Someone found and purchased a LOW NUMBERED REGISTERED MAGNUM within the last year for $350, some luck.
He had it lettered and was offered THOUSANDS for it.
I do not know if it was sold, I believe it was out West somewhere.
There are TREASURES still to be found, J. Edgar Hoover's Registered Magnum Serial #1 has never shown up I do believe.

I got serial #2 at a garage sale just last week.
Paid all of 25 dollars for it. The little old lady
selling it was using it for a paperweight on her
writing desk. Not a mark on it. I can't post photos
cause don't believe in cameras. I think they steal
your soul if your picture is taken so you'll just have
to take my word for it.
I'm going to use it as my truck gun and shoot squirrels
with it with .38 wadcutters in the fall. It never leaves
the truck. I keep it in an oily rag under the floor mat.
Is 10w30 OK for guns ????
Chuck

The first .357 revolvers were custom built for their owners. The owners had the option of registering them with Smith & Wesson and received a certificate.

Found mine (non-registered mag) in a gunshop in So Cal for $900.00. It was marked "pre-27". I asked for the usual LEO discount there (5%). Store said no, it was too valuable to do that. I grudgingly paid the full amount, plus tax, and left. Nice gun.
I added the KB stocks and had it redone later. It was a little rough before the rebuild and refinish, but still a pretty good deal for $900.00, plus tax and DROS.

The Auction had a pre sale ESTIMATE of $3000-$5000. That I could handle but I knew it was WAY under est.
