Default I can't stop myself from hating criminals

I spent the entire day repairing the damage to my mom's home. Some crackheads kicked in the door and absolutely ransacked the place. Every drawer, case, cabinet even the rubbermaid storage tubs were tossed. Problem is, there isn't anything of "value." I mean there is a couple TV's, a new microwave, my dad's fancy stereo, Wedgewood items and some other fancy doo-dads. naturally the medicine cabinets were tossed as well as half a dozen wallets. My mom has been in a nursing home for about 7 years and when she was getting care in-home she was slowly cleaned out by "caretakers." I am angry and beat. The Sunday cop the city sent was great, dusted and photographed everything. I told him when I found the door open, I unholstered and cleared room by room. He was unconcerned except to say don't pull it while he was around. I said "No reason to now" and we both got a laugh. I cursed the rats who did this but I reckon they are already cursed, having to break in other folks house to survive. Joe

I can't abide a thief. For some reason this angers me more than most anything else. There just isn't a reason for it, usually if you NEED something, ask and someone will give it to you. Burglary is the worst-you feel so violated that someone came into your home much less took stuff. That offends me worse than an armed robbery-at least with the robbery the thief has the cods to get in your face and do the demanding-unlike a burglar slinking around in the dark like the jackal he is.

Sorry to hear about that, Joe. Understandable, but not good to hate people, though some of 'em sure seem to deserve it. You're right about them being "cursed." As 4011 said, "They will get theirs some day" - one way or another.

I know how you feel. I came in on a flight one night and when I got home, in the light from the street I saw my Greek Fisherman's hat on the floor at the entrance to the hall. Since my wife was still out of town, I knew someone had been in the house. I flipped on the light switch, living room was trashed, what I could see of the dining room was trashed. I backed out and walked around the house noting that a back window was broken (book cabinet in front of it) and then that wooden slats had been pull out of the back utility room door. It was open and the door to the kitchen was open so I reached in the door, grabbed the phone and backed outside calling 911. When the police got there, they looked around, dusted some surfaces for prints but nothing. Every other room in the house was trashed, medicine cabinets opened, jewelry boxes opened and thrown on the floor.

Now the rest of the story. When I got to looking, I noticed the living room curtains were slightly parted and one of the couch cushions looked as if someone was kneeling there. I actually think he/they saw me getting out of the car and went out the back door as I was coming in the front door. The only thing stolen was some of my wife's jewelry including her mother's wedding set. He/they did open and look at the Winchester 94 we had given my son for Christmas. The thing was, I knew and the police knew who did it and he lived across the street one house down from me. He knew that both my neighbors were gone as well as the house directly across the street. When he pushed open the back door, he knocked over a glass shower door I had to replace a crack one in the bathroom. When it fell, it hit the tail cone of a transmission stored in the utility room and shattered. That had to be loud and yet he still came on in. He was arrested a couple of days later for burglary of another house int he neighborhood but got a suspended sentence. I do understand he is now or was in prison.

A few years back two dirtbags hit a neighborhood close by and targeted elderly people. The sons of two of the victims found these bums in a bar after their arraignment and beat the stuffin' out of these guys. The police report said it was a simple bar fight and no charges were made. Too bad everybody can't pull that off.

You may want to consider some cheap cameras that record onto an sd card. It will help you be less pissed off next time if you can put a face with who just screwed you. It may also assist the cops if they want to put any effort into it.

Here in Oregon recently some 19 year old kid burglerized a farm house, a 12 guage shotgun and an AR 15 were among what he took. He put the guns muzzle-up on the front seat next to him, and drove down the bumpy road leaving the crime scene. What he didn't know (or maybe he did) was that the AR had a round chambered, and the safety off. On one of the bumps, the rifle fired, killing him.

True justice! My only hope was that it wasn't instant!

Last week I posted about the capture of the so called mountain man that has made dozzens of burglarys of remote mountain cabins around here every winter for the last seven years. He seen nothing wrong with it as he said they obvisely had more than they needed and werent useing it so he said he needed it and thought nothing wrong with takeing it. However I havent heard him try to explain why he also shot up some cabins that had religious pictures etc in them and also made a statement of some sort by deficateing in pans and leaveing it on tables.
A close friend of ours also had a cabin in the high country that was burglared that they think he done.
In the past I have got hit several times. I also have intense hatred for a theif. There is a pattern of thinking by some people that seem to think its not a big deal excuseing it with oh, they probley have insurance etc.
Those same people probley havent got hit yet or worked their butt off to buy something dear to them and have it stolen.
I say unless its a true survival situation anyone that breaks into a house will also pull any and every other crime that he thinks he can get away with. Along with that, this idea that someone who has been convicted of a crime and supposedly "paid his debt to soceity" by doing the time doesnt do it for me and I am sure doesnt do it for the people they victomised.

Not only is it an emotional issue, it's a highly expensive one. Think of the need for more law enforcement, courts, public defenders, jails, prisons, parole agents, etc. Plus, medical care, sex changes and special religious support...all paid for by you and me! The Liberal Bleeding Hearts say that these miscreants "had a bad childhood" and want us to release them and take them into our hearts. I want to release them too and turn them into fertilizer. The whole "rehabilitation" movement clearly doesn't work. How can you rehabilitate someone who hasn't been "habilitated" in the first place? It's like trying to sympathize with a turtle because it can't fly, then spending fortunes trying to get them to do it anyway. A whole industry has been created by lawyers who feed off the criminals and their deeds...and we blindly go along. One of the best symbols of a failed system is the notion of "time off for good behavior" in prison. You get a 20 year sentence for a felony crime, but because you didn't do any crimes in prison, you get only ten years? What a joke! America's attitude needs to change! Just look at Kalifornia's prison problem and find the direction we're all headed.

I have no use and zero sympathy for these sacks-of-**** who feel what's yours is theirs.
Sadly, any outcome involving these delinquents will not solve the problem nor is it likely to reform them in any way.

It is with regret that I read your post. We have been through it with my father. He died on a Friday morning about 10:10 a.m. Someone pilfered his bedroom and house before I could drive the two hours to get to him. A few years later someone kicked the door off my daughter's off-campus apartment and ransacked everything she had. Thank God she was not home.

Your anger is absolutely and completely understandable. But as you are no doubt aware, it is corrosive. Trying to live in it is not unlike trying to walk barefoot over broken glass. Try to get through it. The result will be better for you and for your family.

Sorry to hear about the break in pharmer. Leaves one with a sense of being violated.

When I moved in with the lovely Mrs shooter I didn't fully realize what a nasty neighborhood this was. Then my truck was broken into....twice, my trailer I used to use for business was broken into one night because I parked in the street instead of leaving it at the fenced and secure location I usually used. The neighbors have had cars broken into and so on.

What drives me mad is that apparently the element doing this feels they have some "right" to steal from those that have things. I guess they're too lazy to actually work for a paycheck so they can buy stuff. I get so upset and mad I wished I could catch the responsible perp and cut off a hand. If caught a second time cut off the other hand.

Default Joe in Texas...I have the answer!

It's the many who (mis) represent you and me after they've been elected to voice OUR opinions. And on top of that, they actually get paid for their incompetence. That's blatant criminal behavior. Just look at the gun/immigrant issues.

Thanks for all the support. I've been watching my mom die slowly over the last dozen years. Had a stroke in April of 2001. Had in home caregivers that little by little took anything of value. Around 2007 the level of care required a nursing home. So, even though I promised my dad long ago that they could both die at home, it was one I could not keep. Took dad to the hospital at noon in January of '96 and as soon as I got him settled in a room and that I would give him a shave tomorrow, he was gone before I got back to the house. Old Navy WWII vet just wouldn't let me see him die. But mom is even tougher. Nothing working but her mind and her right hand. At $6000/month it only took 5 years to burn through the life savings of the "Old Italians" and my dad. Lifetimes of sacrifice and doing without to "save." I gotta care for the house till she dies and then the State or the nursing home or whoever else is in line with a hand out gets it. It's all good, I have seen first hand how disgusting it is with folks waiting for someone to die to get something.
One last little bit of salt in this wound. While I was talking to the cop the neighbor comes over and said her dogs went nuts around midnight Saturday night. Doesn't do anything but quiet the dogs. If I was her, I'd have kept my mouth shut. But then again it ain't HER house so back to Fritos and late night TV.
I better end on that note. Joe

So many of these thugs are not stealing to survive but to finance a lifestyle of partying, drinking, drugs, etc. "Why should I have to go out a get a job when I can just wait until you go to work and steal whatever you have? "

My brother in law started noticing small bits of money missing on more than one occassion. Example, he left three hundred dollar bills on his dresser to pay a workman who was coming the next day. When he got home from work, only two remained. There was no sign of break ins. He questioned his son who denied taking any money. It only happened when the house was empty so he figured it had to be someone watching the house. He put some money on the dresser again, left the house but doubled back, came through the wooded lot behind his house and reentered through a basement door and waited. Sure enough, he heard footsteps upstairs and took the steps quietly after telling his son to dial 911. He found the neighbor kid in his bedroom stuffing part of the money in his jeans. The kid almost fouled his pants when he realized he was looking at the wrong end of a .44. He later explained to the police that he figured that if he only took a little, it wouldn't be missed. The kid is now in lock up awaiting trial.
