Default Why we lose

I notice several comments calling politicicians and the leaders of anti gun groups idiots. This is a most dangerous attitude. I think they are quite intellegent, cunning and devious. They know exactly why many people own guns. Hunting is the smoke screen to deceive the ignorant. All the far left has an agenda. They have the patience and the will to chip away slowly at our Constitution. They are masters at reframing the argument which is something a fool could never do. I think some are delusional and evil in intent but simply fools or idiots no. Even many of the followers are more ignorant than idiotic. Never underestimate the opposition.

You're right, but recall that politician in (Colorado?) who thinks we should consider ballpoint pens an adequate defensive item.

The key players are subtle, devious, genuinely evil leftists, but they have some real idiots among them.

A big problem is that much of the public qualify as idiots for accepting what they're told about gun issues. They believe what the media says, and that's their sole source of information. The enemy owns the media!

Yes. It is a game of Chess, and the "idiots" out front are the pawns. A deception, a red herring, a misdirection.

The goal being a drastic, meaningful and irrevocable change in the political landscape, and a disarming of those that would or might oppose this path to the left.

Question is who get's to be dictator in the end?

I'll tell you why we lose. While they are protesting, plotting, planning, fundraising, recruiting, etc., We are at a job working to earn money they confiscate to pay for all this nonsense. I propose we move election day to April 15, and we'll do away with a lot of our self inflicted problems. Americans have a very short attention span.

Complacency my friends, is why the righteous hard working, tax paying, rather starve before going on the dole right is losing. Too many excuses why they don't vote, and they have been lulled into believing that everything the extreme far left offers up for election could never win. It is no longer good enough to believe that the righteous good will always defeat the leftist evil.

Here you have entered an interesting subject. Wisdom and Knowledge are not the same. Wisdom is the ability to properly use knowledge. To me no wise man will ever be a socialist.

You'd think Europe would have figured it out after the wars but NO. They for the most part think they're OK. Maybe for now.

When the USA goes in that direction the free world is gonna be screwed.

The UN has been after our rights for a long time and the current admin. seems to go with that thinking. One little piece at a time as directed in their play book.

Things are never as good or as bad as people make them out to be. Political fortune can change on a dime in this country, most of you have seen it happen if your old enough, so relax and don't let it get to you. We have advanced gun rights in this country in ways I would never have dreamed of growing up, because we don't stop fighting if we have a setback, so enough with the lamentation already.

Millions of guns have been sold in this country since 2008, your job is to convince the new owners of those guns to join in the fight to keep them. A few wise words on your part could make a difference to those new owners, just as rash actions could drive them away. Our job is more difficult due to a media that for a large part, is against us. But I enjoy a good fight, and have no intention of loosing this one.

I'd like to join in on the woe is us stuff, but if you look back at the threads from right after Sandy Hook most folks here were convinced "assault rifles" were doomed as well as hi-cap mags. Four months later the other side has given up on pretty much everything. They might pass background checks at gunshows, but that's it.

Colorado, New York, and CT have passed their own restrictions, but on the national level gun control is a dead duck.

I'm not ready to say "we lose". The last time we lost was the early 90s, with the AWB and Brady Bill. We have been on a winning streak since. Remember that all we need to "win" this time is gridlock.

This is a major issue. How much pro-gun airtime have you seen/heard? Not a hell of a lot because it's expensive. The lefties are spending OUR money on anti-gun campaigning, it's a sad state of affairs.

There's ~4.5m NRA members, right. If Wayne would solicit for donations, strictly to be used for airtime, I think each member would donate specifically for that purpose, I know I would. He has mentioned this as PART of the campaign but not as a stand alone item. $30-40m can buy more airtime than you might think. I would love to see it.

That's why the left has taken over the school system some 60 years ago to dumb down the citizens.

What you're seeing is the end result of their efforts.

The people who advocate for less freedom (usually politicians) are always working and planning to gradually take away as much as possible either by direct means or slight of hand. They are experts at setting up straw men arguments to knock down to eat away our rights, much like the freedom robbing termites they are.
Background checks are one example. After all, what reasonable person could object to this common sense approach to keep guns out of undesirable hands? The truth is that background checks are required on most gun sales, at this time anyway. Exemptions might be face to face sales and gifting a firearm to a relative.
Politicians vote on bills that haven't been written yet. These are bowel movement bills that they must pass. Then we can see what's in them. We accept the small surgical excises because they aren't "too bad." We celebrate the Constitution munching pac men as if we've won something when they are just eating away our rights in small bites. It's time to Just Say No!

we are losing because we make no real effort toward gains.
DiFi tried and failed, her bill will just go to a filing carbonate till she tries again, and again, and again.
but then, I really can't say she has entirely failed as some states picked up and ran with some portions.
Tell yall what .. we collectively mounted one heck of a defense and invested a great deal of energy into it.
Now if we could figure out how to rally the troops to use that same effort for a gain .... we wouldn't be losing

On the Fed level... it looks likely that gun owners will win on the proposed AWB being beaten back. If NICS is expanded to private sales it looks like gun owners will have won again.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/inte...d-gun-control/

Do you favor or oppose each of the following proposals to reduce gun violence?

Requiring criminal background checks on all
gun buyers, including those buying at gun
shows and private sales.

------- 91% Favor

But yes, coldshooter I agree, for:

What about be as wise as serpents and gentle as a dove.

A serpent is symbolic of being full of guile and cunning.

I think good men fail because they fail to understand how smart, clever, devious evil men are. They are wise and use their wisdom for evil.

Good character does not equate to intelligence or long term planning.

Good men project good traits on to others.

Wise men know that evil men appear to be good and moral when it suits them.

Wise men understand the methods of the wicked and can respond to them as needed.

Although this is a zombie thread, it remains true. We think that we win battles (and do!), but they chip away one soldier at a time. One day in the future, the battle will be lost, because the individual soldiers abandoned the field.

Perpetual attention is essential.

I'm not sure that "we lose" but right now we are in a holding action. The Left has shifted the fight from the national to the local level - they can't break the line, so they try to flank us. They use the Left leaning media to get out their message and a Left leaning university system to turn out new recruits. While we have the NRA and GOA that represents our interests, they fortser a grass roots level of involvement and participation that makes an impression on the vast numbers of voters in the middle of this debate and those in the middle swing the final vote. You can see their "grass root" level of protest involvement against any gun rights action or legislation on the local news - the Bloomberg Effect. When was the last time you saw a pro gun rights protest covered in the media? Only if they could make us look foolish, old and uninformed.
It may be time to organize at our "grass roots" w/o the NRA or other national organizations and peacefully march on state capitals.
A peaceful "Million Man/Woman" march on a state capital to protest pending anti gun legislation would get media coverage that not even the Left media could spin.
Just my 2c and worth about that much.

Here in AZ the Azcdl is a grassroot pro 2nd group. They have proposed and passed several bills this session, to stop Bloombergs assault on our rights here in AZ. Bloomberg has made every effort and spent millions too change our rights at the state level, thankfully we stopped him. It is obvious that can't do anything at the Federal level, but they are coming after the STATES like cockroaches. So we all need to get envoled and stop them before it happens. If you think your State can't be like California, New York or Washington think again be prepared and get involved.........
