I have sinned
Father forgive me for I have sinned. I have purchased an old model Charter Bulldog 44 special 3 inch since my last confession. I could not afford a S&W at todays prices.

You acknowledged the sin but I don't think you are really sorry.

I have a Taurus M431 stainless 2 1/2 inch fixed sight .44 Special.
Its as well fitted, finished, and tuned as any S&W made after 1985.
It shoots well too.

I've always liked the Charter Arms stuff if you use it for what it's for. I've had a 38 snubbie for many years and never had any problem with it till last year when shooting it the front sight fell off. Oh well it's not to be used for long distance anyway.
Mine is stainless and I've always called it my tackle box gun cause I could throw it into the box when going fishing. Can't do that with my Smith or the Gun Gods will hunt me down and do terrible things to me.
Wouldn't mind having a 44 Sp myself but right now it's not in the old billfold.

Like any sin, it will make you feel good. I have a couple and have cut one down to 2 inches for pocket carry.

My LGS had not one, but two of those on the shelf a few days ago when I was in. They were the old models, but looked unfired with just a quick glance. I'd have been more interested except I've gotten bitten by the double shotgun bug and had just put a Lefever 16 ga on layaway. I had to tell myself...Keep walking...keep walking.

Don't feel bad as I bought A Taurus snubby in .41 when I could find no three inch 57s and 657s. Not quite the same gun but what I could afford and find.
I still have my longer 57s and 657 so am not a complete traitor to the board either.
I did trade here for a Lew Horton 24 in three inch and am happy with it too. I couldn't afford his price but had something he wanted. Glad too I bought a supply of 44 special some time ago. Now I have some brass and need to get dies for them.
