The Predicted Bacon Shortage Of 2013

Forgive me if this has been discussed and I missed it.

Remember all the dire predictions of high priced or no bacon to be found for 2013.

What happened, or didn't happen?

As far as I can tell, nothing has happened. Of course bacon is expensive, but so is everything else.

I don't recall any major shifts.

If anything bacon seems to be in higher demand as it's seemingly added to everything now.

I guess all the talk on ammo prices and shortages made me think about it?

I'm betting someone here at the forum knows?

Bacon is more plentiful here in TN than .22 long rifle.

I'm upset.
I went out and bought five tons of bacon to get ready for the price gouge... er, I mean "adjustment".
I was gonna sell my bacon for $125 per pound and make an honest profit.

I sure hope this shortage happens soon. I'm tired of eating bacon three times a day.

I suspect prices on a lot of meat products are going to rise significantly.

The drought is really starting to bite the livestock industries. Ordinarily, the ranch I manage would produce over a million pounds of beef and the other family ranches would produce another 3 million pounds of beef.

We aren't even stocking the ranch I manage this year, and reducing numbers on the other places by 40% due to lack of grass and hope of grass for the summer season.

Many ranchers who raise cows and calves are being forced to sell their breeding stock, which will have an effect on the number of cattle available for years to come. That means less meat available and prices will rise.

That's just one little bitty ranch operation in the whole scheme of things.

Steaks ain't cheap now, but enjoy them while you can, it's gonna get a lot worse.

Even regular old ground beef has getting more expensive lately.
I'm sure it's just a preview of things to come.
