Default National reciprocity

As part of the Toomey-Manchin "comromise" on BC's, there's a mention of a national reciprocity with regards to CC.

Manchin-Toomey deal could allow gun owners, sellers to carry, sell across state lines | Fox News

Never Happen!

"STATES RIGHTS" would stop it.

Just wishful thinking by some.

I too wondered what hat they pulled that out of, and how it would be implemented. On one hand I would welcome it, and on the other it seems it would be another case of federal overreach.

In theory I could avail myself of HR 218, retired LEO nationwide carry, but my old agency won't play the game. As it is Wyoming has constitutional carry and I have a carry permit with reciprocity from any states I care to visit.

Sounds like a nothing burger that will vanish along the way anyway. I'd settle just to be left the hell alone...

Yes. In a perfect world it would pass. The last time I checked however, the world wasn't perfect yet.

It has a kind of appeal. It could be called a "gun control" measure, yet Democratic legislators could vote for it without paying a price and it'd probably pass the house. It could be a win-win.

I was kinda hearing that too. If ya have a state issued carry license , you already have a 'blanket' background check and should be able to purchase without another background check. Here in PA , even if ya have a PA-LTCF , ya still gotta go thru a BG check. Mostly because they want the $5 that go toward feeding the system.

But not if ya have a C&R-FFL and the guns ya buy are 50yrs old.

This is a complete blunder by Fox News, also propagated by CNN. There is no "national reciprocity" for concealed carry in the currently pending Manchin-Toomey Amendment, although the U.S. Senate may later consider a different amendment on that subject, the text of which has not yet been released. Please see my detailed summary of the firearms transfer and background check provisions of Manchin-Toomey, with special attention to paragraph no. 4:
Transfer provisions in the pending Manchin-Toomey Amendment

Yes , but when it comes to motor vehicle regs , to each state their own. Just go to New Jersey with sidepipes on a car, truck or van, or high handlebars on a motorcycle that are perfectly legal here in PA and you'll get ticketed there.

I retired from LE in Alabama, but now live in Virginia. Virginia will give you a HR 218 card and administer the qualification, just like I was still in Alabama.
