Cheaper Than Dirt my ***
So I decide to order 4 items from them. The items totaled $89 I go to check out and each of the 4 items ships from a different warehouse and the total for shipping and handling is $43.00!! I think not!! I go to Amazon and I get all 4 items for $11 cheaper and free shipping. I guess I will checking with them 1st from now on!

That is indeed out of control.
I check Amazon first for a lot of items... it's surprising what they have.

I think an awful lot of people who hang out here are done with CTD. I haven't bought anything from them in years, but after hearing what they did with ammo prices recently they can forget any orders from me. Your story iced the cake.

Amazon and Overstock.com, (Overstock not so much) surprised me with the items they have available, usually a good or at least competetive price, and frequently free shipping.
I blew CTD and Sportsmans Guide off for their gouging on ammo prices, wrote em and told em why, never heard from either---good riddance!!

They should change their name from "Cheaper Than Dirt" to "Expensive As ****. I did buy a Mosin Nagant from their brick and mortar store a month ago for $120. But between their high prices, outrageous shipping fees, and out of stock, not sure how much other business I'll give them.

This is not news. It's so bad I consider it false advertising and someone should be in court till they change it.

Where have u been since December?
Everyone has already jumped ship due to their off the wall ammo hikes. Its a shame they arent even in the ball park of their competitors prices. They have lost lots of customers in the past few months due to their dirt becoming so expensive.

Sportsmans Guide has always done right by me. As a matter of fact, in the past three weeks I have received two back-ordered cases of 7.62 ammo that were processed at pre-panic prices. SG didn't have to honor old pricing, but SG did. Considering that 7.62 is going for ~ $375/1,000 now, my two cases cost $237 each, with free delivery thanks to my regular SG coupons. I will continue to patronize SG.
CTD on the other hand, played its cards very wrong over the past six months, jacking prices on ammo and P-Mags skyward, then keeping them there when competitors backed off. If this forum is any indication of customer dissatisfaction, CTD has lost a lot of clientele.

Ditto. Received an ammo back order from SPG a couple weeks ago. Pre panic pricing honored.

Yeah, there more and more bad reviews about CTD. I noticed that they don`t even have a functional online website anymore.

I stop by the CTD store in McKinney TX anytime I'm passing by and their shelves always have ammo. Of course it's way over priced but it's available. So I've come to appreciate (but not like) their pricing strategy. You can either stand at Walmart every morning at 7:15 and hope they have 9mm or 22 or you can stop by the CTD store and get some. They always have it in stock now...at robbers prices but at least you can go shoot if you can afford it.

I bought a brand new entrenching tool w/polymer sheath (Both made in USA and it's the newer style tool) for $12.95 w/free delivery.
Also bought an un-issued military gas mask w/extra lens and canisters for $14.95. Came w/a carry bag.
Only two items I've ever bought from them, but no complaints.

I swore I'd never buy from them again after their price gouging on ammo, but I just did. They had magazines for my High Standard pistol for $24.97. Brownell's wants $42 for the exact same magazine (Triple K 990). I bought two of them.
I also bought two Blackhawk large pistol rugs for $6.80 each. If I ordered these from the correct warehouse, they would ship the magazines and gun rugs for a little over $5 each (they shipped from different warehouses). They will go UPS to the postal service. If I didn't ship this way, it was going to be about $27 shipping instead of $10.38.

I believe it was Roy Rogers who said something like "you can't go wrong buying DIRT (real estate) 'cause they ain't making any more of it."
Real estate prices seem to be rebounding lately, so maybe that's the kind of "dirt" they are comparing themselves to when they say they are "cheaper than dirt".

Between the ammo/gun prices the last few months, and the multiple warehouse shipping game, I haven't ordered anything from them in a year or more. I still get their e-mails, but even their Christmas specials aren't all that special. After shipping, it's cheaper to go to Academy across town and get it today.

Fixed it. Not the first time they've done this. Their .22LR is still listed at $80-$90 a brick.
They've been off my list for years.

A minor side tangent here. A few people have mentioned Amazon? Well, I'm kind of on a retro kick lately as far as shaving goes. I started with a brush & soap bowl, because a few months back my physical condition was such that it was hard to put shaving foam on my throat, which is all I shave since I have a beard. I got to where I didn't need the brush, but now its a habit. I've always been curious about the old safety razors, the type with the butterfly top. I have a box of 180 premium double sided blades that someone gave me years ago that are in perfect condition, so I decided to go ahead & pick up a razor & started looking on Amazon. I found a cool chrome rack that holds the brush & the razor for not much. I entered shaver in the search box, but kept getting electric razors. So, I entered "wet shavers" in the search box. I couldn't believe what came up! If you have time to check it out, go to the second page & scroll down a little. It took me by surprise!

I don't even go their website anymore, and I marked their emails in my spam filter.

CTD is kind of like Southwest airlines; they fancy themselves as the scrappy low cost upstart, when they are both neither.

In 2008 when I began my affair with pistols I went to CTD to see what hey had as I was told they were great. My experience.....not so great. After checking several times over the next few years for ammo or other items I finally decided it was time to erase CTD from my rounds and stop wasting my time.

I never spent a penny there. I looked at their site once--never again. I found nothing listed that was cheap at all and thought about suing them for wasting my time looking at their site.

CTD lost any chance of my business with them after the
stunt they pulled with their ammo and mag prices during
the "panic".
They are not the only player in the game.
