That whole idea is just creepy as hell. My fervent hope is that it'll never be necessary for me to make anyone bleed from bullet wounds.
And no, we don't need this kind of publicity.

I find it distasteful and inappropriate. It's one of those things that just because you have the right to do it don't make it right to do.

I would add "disgusting" to your list. You can only imagine what kind of sick creep would get his jollies from such a thing. Not someone I'd want to be around if he was armed.

Whoever was screening vendors for that venue fell asleep at the switch
I'm appalled by the very thought

Another vendor was asked to remove a similar bleeding 3D Zombie target that looked suspiciously like a certain un-named high ranking politician.

An LEO was exposed shooting targets with the photo of Trevon Martin on them-somewhere around Orlando. Never heard anymore about it. Probably not his best move.

Even if they were the no shoot targets he claimed they were, still not the best thought through decision based on the current climate.
The ex girlfriend thing is abhorrent and certainly not helpful to the cause of not only retaining our 2A rights based on constitutionality but also fostering understanding and acceptance in those who haven't been exposed to firearms by anything other coverage of the terrible things that evil/ill people do with them.

Speaking of your ex-girlfriend....
Q: Do you know what the difference is between your ex and Charles Manson?
A: Manson has the decency to look ------- crazy when you first meet him.

It was only a short stretch between zombie targets with tannerite packed heads to this... I wonder if Hornady will be marketing matching ammo?

I bought a bleeding zombie awhile ago... Was like 90 bucks at a LGS, and you know what? It was awesome... Am i some sick freak that likes to shoot people or would ever shoot someone for fun? Umm no way not in a million years , but shooting at a fake ballistics gel zombie and watching them bleed/explode, yes it was fun by everyone at the range... Lighten up... How many people shoot the paper bad guy targets ect? Omg your shooting someone!! : :
And thanks for the idea... Ill put a 1lbs charge into the gel body next time...

There are millions of gun owners trying to teach people how to be responsible and respectful of guns. Then along comes a nut-job and does something like this. And, to make matters worse, it's sanctioned at an NRA event. And the timing? With congress reconsidering gun bills? You can't make this stuff up.

I wholeheartedly agree with Sip. We don't need any intentional bone-headed moves like this (especially at that venue) to hinder our cause.
Of course that said, the folks who would scream the loudest about these targets are the same hypocrites who see no issue with the desensitization of our kids with "shoot-em-up" video games and glorify those who make and act in violent movies.

That's sick. I agree with Sip, there's no place for that kind of "humor" in the shooting sports. I disappointed in the NRA for allowing it to be shown. Quite possibly they had no idea what the vendor was going to show at the show, but when it was displayed it should have been pulled.

I personally don't even like standard silhouette targets much less this gruesome trash. Just more mind desensitizing imagery to further degrade society.

I wouldn't think such a thing would inspire violence in those who didn't already have that tendency. However, it's better that they shoot something like this than something living.
It does look really creepy and gross to me though.

The Iowa Coalition against Domestic Violence posted that picture on their Facebook page. I was shocked when I saw it. That is just stupid. I'm sure the mainstream media will be picking up on this today. I won't notice, as I work for a living.
Back last year, after Sandy Hook, a lot of anti-gun organizations posted a picture on their Facebook pages that had their panties in a bunch. It was an NRA approved target.....shaped like a COFFIN!!! This was seen by them as celebrating Sandy Hook. I pointed out it was a silhouette target, like law enforcement had used for decades for training. I also asked when was the last time they saw a coffin with a head? They never answered that question.
We, as gun owners, need to use our brains. Whoever allowed that target in needs to be fired.
Jim

A lot said here on the NRA "allowing" the vender to display. Allow me this war story that might explain that. Around 1954 when I was 13 years old I went with my dad to a sports show. I went by myself a different direction. A vender sitting behind a stack of magazines called me over. He called me over and said he would give me a free subscription to this new sports magazine, just pay the postage. I got my wallett out thinking it might be a buck or so as those were the days you could get outdoor life for maybe a buck and a half for a year. He laid something like 10 bucks on me! (and that was a bi monthly subscription, not ever month! I paid it. I didnt want to stand out as a cheapskate or whatever. I hated myself! I made the mistake of telling dad a couple minutes later. He blew up. He had me show him the guy. Dad stood there a couple minutes watching how the slick opperated. Several grown men got hit up the same way. They would pull out there wallett, he would hit them the same way with the timeing. Always they hesitated in shock but would timidly pay up. Dad walked over looking like a dumb rube. Now picture chuck conners or clint walker walking up. (Dad was that size and looked like the rifleman). Pa also said, why sure! Hell ov a deal! The guy laid the 10 buck line on him. I swear all activity stopped all around that area! Dad bellered out louder than I ever heard him! (normaly he was the quit meek type) $10s? Why you sleezy @$&! crook! Ya ought ta be put in jail! And I cant remember what else! Now I was timid and kind of scared thinking we would be thrown out or jailed! I timidly walked behind dad as he stormed off. People were standing there with their jaws open as we went.
A fellow come fast behind us in a black suit with a tag badge that said "show offical" on it! Hey big fella, hold up! I thought we had it! "I want to shake your hand"! That guy is legal, we wanted him outta here but we had to leave him opperate as he is slick but knows exactly how far he can go and we couldnt throw him out! I loved seeing that!
Anyway this could be a similar deal?

If that's what turns you on. And I strongly suspect that it may be.
And no, I damn well will not lighten up. I stand by what I said, this is perverse and twisted, and gives anti-gunners stuff to beat us up with.

I'm a guy too, and have been for a very long time. My sense of humor is quite active, as people who've been here a while can tell you, but it doesn't work that way.
It's a crying damn shame we have to be concerned about what the gun-haters think of us, but we do. And as the OP put it, this isn't helping.

Honestly....
I don't even use silhouette targets for the same reason, just bullseye. I don't want to give the other side ANY ammo to say that what I do is dangerous to people. If a situation demands that I use guns for other reasons, then so be it.
