The time has finally come. I'll be rollin' outta here and headin' up to my BILs place in Central Texas dark and early in the morning and should be there before noon. Just about noon on Thursday Two vehicles of BILs, Nephews, sons and cousins will head on up I-35 all the way up and Cross into Canada at International Falls and then on up for another 8 hours or so to our destination: Kabeelo Lodge in Northern Ontario Province.

That entire trip will take about 27 to 28 hours. We only stop for gas and to change drivers. We carry some stuff to eat on the way and we stop and a place we like In Minneapolis for a good hot meal just before we cross into Canada.

We'll have dinner there at the lodge on Friday night and stay there for the night and on Saturday morning a float-plane will be taking us to our lake for a week of fishing for Northern Pike and Pickerel and lake trout. Maybe a little bear dodging or what ever as well.

I will not be back home until about the 17th or maybe the 18th depending on how long I will need to rest up before driving home from the BILs. I haven't done this trip since 2002 and it took me a couple of weeks to get over it that time. We kind of "let the badger run" you might say....

I will miss all my new-found friends here but the good side of the deal is that I expect to have some new Pics of Canada to share When I get home. Y'all please play nice while I'm gone and save me a place cause I WILL be back.

You know.......you could stop by my place and pick me up. I am a great long distance driver. I just got back from a road trip up into South Dakota and Minnesota and back. I've driven it straight through or with over night breaks.

I'll tip my hat to you when you sail through my latitude around Hinckley, MN (though I am another 75 miles east). You know, we only lost our lake ice 3wks ago around here...are you sure the water is "soft" where you're going? Have a great trip!

Thanks for the heads up on the ice. The good folks at Kabeelo keep a close eye on conditions on all of their lakes and if there is any problems they always let us know in plenty of time. Looks like we're good to go for this years.

Have a safe and enjoyable trip. I will be heading up that way at the end of July. We go about 90 mile north of Ear Falls to a couple of lakes north of Red Lake Ontario. Always a great time. We stop at the waterfront park on Lac Seul in town to eat lunch on the way up.

Yep, that is a road trip! You guys are going way up north, eh.

Back in 92, 6 of us rented a motor home and drove non-stop from Louisville to Nestor Falls and then took a week long fly in trip. Great memories.
