IF YOU COULD ONLY KEEP THREE
If you could only keep 3 firearms what would they be and why?... this is a toughy cuz we all love our guns. Here's mine:
1. 12 gauge pump because it has so many uses: big game/ small game hunting, protection
2. .22 rifle - nuff said
3. 357 Magnum revolver because it's super reliable and shoots two different calibers

I'm down to only owning four in my broke old age. Guess I'd have to let the very elderly 12 gauge SXS go and keep the dashless 640, the four-inch 10-5, and the Marlin 39A.

M-1911 A1 Colt .45 for close up defense and hitting power.
M-1 Garand. One of the best battle rifles ever bar none.
M-14, Never had one but had lots of fun with one. Looking forward to having fun with one of them again sometime ;-))

Ruger 22/45 LITE - modified - small game, super accurate, cheap to shoot, fun
H&R Pump 12 Gauge - highly modified - so many uses, so much fun to shoot, currently my truck gun that'd I would and do stake my life on in a SHTF happening, groups slugs inside 2" at 50 yards
S&W 9mm Shield - at the range the 1st day I was SUPER ACCURATE right out of the box with this gun to nearing 50 yards, easy to carry, super accurate-said that didn't I?, and one more time: FUN as heck to shoot

keep three
The three I kept when I gave all my guns to my 2 sons and grand sons; S&W 686, Ruger SP101, and Ruger Mark II target. Love 'em all--sons, grand sons, and my 3 handguns.

S&W 686: Powerful, accurate, and fun to shoot.
Beretta M9: Fits perfectly in my big hands, is ambidextrous, and is dead accurate.
S&W M&P9c: Perfect size, is ambidextrous, and is accurate for its size.

The three I could not give up ever, ever, ever are my 27-9 .357 Magnum revolver with the 6.5 inch barrel, my 15-3 with the 4" barrel and my 1911 .45 ACP. They are the most reliable guns I have and have pretty good stopping power.

Well... since the doctor is only allowing me to shoot .22's, my choices are kind of limited for now, so I would have to keep these:
M&P 15-22
Kimber Rimfire Target
Ruger Single Six, or Single Ten (Not sure which one!)
After my next surgery, I hope my choices will be less limited!

1)My late 1950s/early 60s Belgium Browning Auto 5 Lightweight 12 Gauge with Polychoke (was my Missississippi grandfather's - accurate, well balanced, deadly & reliable).
2)My 6.5" Stainless Ruger Super Single Six Convertable .22 lr./22 WMR (well balanced, accurate, kills everything dead, reliable)
3)My 7 lb. .338 Win Mag. stainless bolt actioned Remington 700 Mountain rifle w/ synthetic stock (only available a year or two [1993] before they went to a regular/heavier contour barrel. It shoots sub MOA, fits me perfectly, is deadly with it's Leupold 2 X 7 Vari-X II scope & the most accurate rifle I've ever shot or seen shot.
If allowed a 4th gun my S&W Military & Police .38 would make the cut. Clean Break

Dang...that's tough. But, if I could only pick three, it would probably be the following:
Remington 870 12-gauge
Ruger 1022
And my Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt.
