Default Random thought for today: I'm glad my last name is not Ago

Missus P&R Fan's name is Sandy.
I'm really glad my last name is not Ago.
She'd really feel stupid telling people her name.

Went to HS with a girl named Sandy Beach. Her brother was named Rocky Beach. These are their given names as shown on their birth certificates.

Years ago I knew a guy named Russell Bridges. Naturally he went by Rusty.

I was an NCO in the Air Force, So I was called several different names. I worked with an flight officer names Catastrophe, He got promoted to Major. Now how would you like to fly with a pilot with a name like Major Catastrophe.

Some years back our next door neighbor's last name was Head. The Heads were over at our place one Saturday for beer and burgers. He said that if he had a son he was going to name him Richard. His wife leaned over and said that if he did that to her son she would kill him and then divorce him.

My elementary school buddy Justin's dad passed away when he was a toddler. His mom remarried and his step dad (Tim Case) adopted he and his sister. He is officially Justin Case.

I presume the OP is about being San Diego.

But what if your name was Ago and your first name was Long? I hope that no parent would do that to a kid.

My brothers and I were named after English kings. Trouble is, two of those kings were beheaded and another was cut down in battle when he famously lost his horse. But he was only the third to bear that name. The other brother is named after the guy whose barons forced him to sign the Magna Carta.

My parents probably never really thought about those being the names of those monarchs. Mother was a church educational director before she became a school teacher and she probably chose two of the names for biblical connections.

In my old hometown, long ago, there was a fellow who drove a small van with "Interior Decorator" painted on the side. Under the main sign was his name painted: Harry Hollowpeter. True story.

When I was in the Army way back about 1975, we had a Lieutenant who's given first name was General.
It was always fun to tell the new guys to report to Lt. General Smith.

A local judge retired not too long ago, named John Edward Cass. He insisted on "Ed", but many who appeared before him preferred "Jack".

When I was in OCS at Quantico... one of the candidates had the last name of "Marine".

The drill instructors were merciless on him... "You ain't no Marine yet! Right now you are %*&^*!"

His uniform had his last name stenciled and he was a walking DI bullseye 7x24.

There's a fellow in Guilford Co., NC named Archery Thompson. He was once arrested for "shooting within city limits." It probably was inevitable.

I've got a 50 year pal with the last name of Haas. You know his nickname has been Jack since about the 8th grade.

I know a guy named Russel Peters.... my uncle calls him rusty.

Something occurred to me in high school while filling out forms. My first and last name have the same amount of letters. Same day went to the football game and the cheerleaders were spelling out the home town and team name.... they ALL have the same amount of letters. Not something anyone would notice but me... but thought it was kind of crazy at the time.

I'm surprised this one hasn't been mentioned.

There are two guys that work together at the company I work for. Jim Carter and Wayne Kennedy. We call them the president crew.

I once dated a divorcee named Terri Bean. For some reason she kept the married name. Her maiden name was Greene. I guess she got tired of me calling her "Green Bean" because we didn't date very long. Also, you should see what our local Pamela Sue Anderson looks like. It's scary.

Years ago I worked in a treatment center with a nun. She said one of her duties as a novice (soon after Vatican II) was to drive the country roads around the convent checking on elderly folks and shut-ins. One day she saw a mailbox with the name Ophelia Bosom. None of the sisters would believe her till she took a couple with her and showed them.

Young people who are polite think my name is Mister Mike. I tell the others it's "That's MISTER Dude to you, son."

Always thankful that my parents never thought it would be a cute idea to name me Pete.

Back in the mid 70s at the Ft. Huachuca, AZ hospital we had a doctor named Dr. Posthumous.
At Ft. Sam Houston, TX we had an oral surgeon named Dr. Hurt.

Both of them were great guys and had a lot of fun with their names. The patients sometimes got funny looks when you told them which doctor they to see that day.

Many years ago the chief of neurology (as I recall) at Louisville's VA Hospital was Dr. I.O. Dein. And we had a prominent OB/GYN specialist named Hyman.

When I was 5 years old I used to run out to the driveway to greet my dad after work and carry his thermos into the house. He always told me if I ever dropped it my name would be mud. Well one day I did.
