Anyone have a KelTec KSG, anyone want one?
I am intrigued by the KelTec KSG. I hear they're real hard to get especially at MSRP or below. Other than the fact they won't chamber 3" mag I can't think of any negatives. What do you have to say? Looks like a great house gun (Like I really need another sheesh!)

I had the opportunity to testfire one and put about 250 rds of mixed 12 ga. ammo thru one and could not have been more impressed. I personally look at it as a 12 ga. with a full load of 8 rds. and an onboard reload of 7{very fast reload}. It most certainly is not a quick reload once you have fired all 15 rds. It{at least the one I fired} is not fast to switch back and forth between the 2 feed tubes either as the next shell to be fed has to be pushed slightly back into the magazine tube to reapply the stop. It is easy to shift to the new tube just not back and forth as some writers have said that it is easy and fast to select a different load, {perhaps it is with a type writer} just not in the field. I will have one when the prices come down to MSRP. All my best, Joe.

I was able to hold one that belongs to my instructor a couple of weeks ago and I loved the balance of it. To me it is kind of like the humpbacks. You with love um or you hate um!

Absolutely no experience with it, but for what it is worth, a local gun shop who sells them told me there has been a lot of problems with that model. This guy is a straight shooter, and showed me a customers gun he was returning to the manufacturer due to shells sticking in the feed tubes.

I'd like to have one, but with a MSRP of $1197 (with no sights), I'm afraid it will stay on my "like to have" list.

As I said in the above post, the one I tested worked like a charm. I used everything from light birdshot loads to slugs and everything in between. The brands of shells were Federal, Winchester, Remington and a very few S&B buckshot rds. I should mention tho , that you need to pump it forcefully and not be "gentle" in it's operation. As most of you know, short shucking a pump gun is the cause for most malfunctions. All my very best, Joe. PS, I should add that this gun tested was purchased by a good friend who is a major distributor of guns and ammo {as well as everything else} off of Gunbroker because he does not sell Kel-Tec wholesale. The shotgun was not "prepped" prior to the test.

I'm not a shotgun guy, so my wish is that they would get the bugs out of the RFB design. Unlike some I actually like the rearward balance of a bullpup, probably because I am not renowned for my upper body strength. I mean really, could a FAL be any more barrel heavy?

Mine chambers and fires mini shells and 3" magnum shells with no problems. I'll not sell it nor let go willingly for any reason.

I did want one, until I started looking around at prices and reviews. Reviews were mixed as were reviews on the other manufacturer, UTAS. After watching and reading some reviews, I decided on the UTAS-15. No problem with switching feed tubes as it alternates sides when the latch is in the middle. Much easier to load and clear if there is a feed issue. So far, my UTS-15 has been pretty flawless...

I want to compare the KSG and the UTAS, then buy the better one myself.

Around here they are really in the RipOff mode when it comes to the KSG. I've been able to handle two of them - the first went for $2500 and the second for $2750. Told both to just keep them. Two weeks later both had sold for the asking price. You go figure.

That was the case a month or 2 ago... not so much now... I paid $1150 for my UTAS and the same for 2 more in the last week... I think the UTAS can be had for even cheaper now. The fear for us in Ma is when the politicians get done with their new laws, we won't be able to buy a cap gun in Ma... let alone a 15 shot shotgun.

I watched the Hickock45 video and I'd swear the list price was in the $800 range somewhere. I read on KelTec's site that due to the US government planning to ban it they bumped up the price and if the ban didn't go through they'd return it to the previous level (yeah right).
Definition of idiot tax, the amount above MSRP you pay for an item you must have right now.
I may tell one of my LGS's to get one in for me if he can get it to sell at or below list. There is one on GB.com at $905 with almost 4 days to sell.

I owned one briefly last year--I liked it a lot, although I can't speak to its long-term reliability. Mine was 100% functional and quite comfortable to shoot. The pump action was very smooth and the trigger pull was unexpectedly crisp. I sold mine when I was offered $400 more than I paid for it--I expected I'll get another at some point once the price drops a bit more.

You are right $800 is right, but even the distributors have been jacking the price up $400 or more before shipping them.

On Kel Tec's site they say the estimated MSRP is $1197. This must be the MSRP they are trying to blame on the US government. Since the UTS15 is about that price I am guessing they are doing a bit of price matching.
I don't need one and my heirs don't need one either. We'll see if the price settles down a bit.
I bought my Diamondback DB380 at the height of the .380 craze. I paid $369 for it. I think today you can find them around $50 less. It doesn't pay to get too eager.
