Please help me make a decision.
I need to decide between a model 325 scandium .45acp revolver, and a s&w 1911pd comander. Both are used in decent shape, both are the same price. Which is more desirable? Which is worth more? I know it is a personal preference thing, but I can only get one and can't decide.
The revolver is more unique, but I'm thinking the Comander is the better deal, and more useful. What would you do?
Thanks, Ed.

1911 for my taste, but purely personal decision.

Of all the guns in the world, you have to decide between these two?
I'd go with the 1911.

Another 1911 fan. But you have to learn it. If your just going to pitch it in a drawer, go with the revolver.

If you don't have a 1911 in your stable then that's the route I believe I'd go....On-the-other-hand, the idea of a wheelgun in .45acp intrigues the bejeebers out of me!

I'm going to go the other way. There is absolutely nothing unusual or rare about a Smith 1911. From a collector's standpoint, Smith 1911's are a non-starter at this point in history.
The 325 is a limited production gun. It will appreciate in value and very few other people will have one. Buy it.
Now if this will be your only gun, I'd say the 1911 as it's a better SD gun. I'm assuming you have others and my opinion is based on a collector's viewpoint.

I have other 1911's but not a light weight commander. I've always been intrigued by a .45acp revolver and the whole moon clip thing. You guys are doing a good job of keeping me on the fence, but thanks for your help!
BTW they are both a little north of $800. Is that a fair price? Ed

Buy the 325. If you keep it and get bored you can easily get your money back. The 1911PD is just one of many of these types that exist.
You might find another 1911 you like better.
The 325 might be HARDER for you to like shooting however...

325NG or 1911sc-E
I've got a 325NG & really like it. We also have a two-tone S&W 1911sc-E which I shoot too. Both are light & only one oz. weight different (28 & 29oz) btwn. them. The sc-E has Trijicon night sights front & back. The NG only has it on the front (why? I put a red ramp on front & adjustable rear). Overall length are within .25" of each other. The NG is (6) shot & the sc-E is 8+1. They both are overpriced new, the sc-E is the most. Of course they both are Sc alloy framed. 2.75" bbl vs 4.25" bbl. The NG color is unique & sinister looking. The sc-E is just beautifully sculptured & I think the best looking 1911 out there. You can shoot 45 Super in the NG but I wouldn't try setting up the sc-E for it.
Not sure how the PD compares to the sc-E, but they seem close.

Tough choice. Probably boils down to whether you're more comfortable with a wheelgun or an auto. Personally, I'm a wheelgun nut so....
S&W 1911sc-E & 325NG
325NG & 45 Super load

BLUEDOT, that is a really nice indoor range and two nice pieces.
Ed, I would go with the 1911. Not sure why as I am not a 1911 guy, but it just kind looks cooler.

I would like to have an N frame in .45acp, but I would never carry it for SD. The 325PD is a scarcer gun, but if it was me I would get the 1911.

Thanks, for the advice guys. I decided to go with the 1911. It just seemed more practical. I will pick it up Tuesday, and post picture and a range report when I can. Thanks again.
