A kind thought for my F-I-L if you please.
My father-in-law contracted a urinary tract infection which has spread into his blood. He has been in the hospital since Monday with a fever that has been up and down and quite high at times. Of course since being there he also picked up an intestinal bug! 
He is 88 years young and is a WWII vet seeing tours in Normandy, Versailles as well as in the Pacific theater. He is the reigning NYS senior (over 80) table tennis champ (singles and doubles) and has held the same titles in Handball. Above all that, he is perhaps the most genuine, sincere and thoughtful gentleman I have ever had the pleasure to know.
I believe he is on the road to recovery now but at his age bouncing back is tough. BTW, he is finally on the mends from many months of an agonizing bout of shingles.
So if you think bout it, please keep a kind though in your heart for him.

I hope when my generation reaches that age (and it's really not that far off) that our younger friends and family will think of us in the same way you think of him.

You're lucky to have him for a father in law, and he's lucky to have you as a son in law. Happy to send kind thoughts and prayers his way, and to you and yours as you share his recovery with him. Sounds like he's had a tough year of it. It's hard to watch anyone have to deal with medical issues, and especially our older folks. It's part of life, but that doesn't make it any easier for anyone involved.
