If they even list a round-butt option, I think it was the same cost as sq. butt.
Essentially the same gun was sold as the Marshal. It is pretty rare. Not made for very long. The only one I've seen had been poorly cared for.

My 1964 edition does not list a 2" barrel. It states " can be supplied with round butt". Price shown is $79.25. No mention if price was different for a round butt.

hi Texas star , problem is as best as i know only the NYPD & Metro DC Police were only PD's that issued , possible more?
NYPD had a really bad holster offering little or no protection and most of NYPD are in poor shape ,they can be ID as the have a 3 or 4 number on the backstrap its the oficer badge number, just a little history, robbt

I think the square butt was the norm for NYPD, although they probably allowed the round butt. Very likely, the same was true for the S&W M-10.
We have seen here many ex-NYPD guns, some sold by R.M. Vivas, who does a lively trade with retired officers in that city. All seen were square butt, and that has held true for photos in books and news pics that I've seen over the years.
I have seen a few pics of the snub Oficial Police, but they seem to be very uncommon. That was a big frame and grip for a snubbie gun.
I have known about the poor Jay-Pee NY holsters since I was about 16 years old and read it in Chic Gaylord's, "Handgunner's Guide." But poor holsters alone are not the whole story. Many cops just don't care well for their guns.

I scanned the page, but a question... can the scanned page be posted here without violating copyright laws or board rules?

Yoou would have probably got an answer quicker if you said up front what you were looking for. Shooters Bible is not the only source of such information.
