This "Lomgmire" Show Is Pretty Good And I Hate Drama Shows
I'm a History channel type guy and don't watch all the drama shows my wife does, but I get glimpses of them. I've been sticking with Longmire, though. This show has a very slooow pace compared to urban cop shows with nonstop bantering by people who just cannot shut up. But Longmire is a relief from that. I think the pace is realistic, set in Wyoming where the environment is a co-star. Time and distance factor into the rhythms of the hard working people that live in wide open spaces. This show respects the intelligence of viewers by not assuming they/we all suffer from ADD and must be constantly shown nonstop action and endless blabbering. And Longmire doesn't carry a Glock! Just a stag gripped 1911 and a Winchester 94. Lou Diamond Phillips is perfect here which is something that I've never thought before. He's like Longmire's anchor in this. My Burp review: 4 thumbs, I mean 4 trigger fingers up.

It does grow on you. I love the show. Great scenery. I wish I worked where he does as opposed to where I'm at. Life out there has to he better.

You had me interested right up to the point you mentioned Lou Diamond Phillips. He is one of my least favorite actors.

I like it but sometimes I can't tell if the sheriff is being stoic or just fell asleep...

I generally like the show.
Don't think the writers know much about compost, however.

I agree with Mr. Burp's assessment of the show, although sometimes the Hollywood writers really step in it. The compost pile comes to mind. LDP is not my favorite actor either but he does a great job here and really adds something positive to the show IMO. Katee Sackhoff is easy on my eyes, I could watch her all day long...

I really like this show. My only objection is the pace or accent that Lou Diamond Phillips uses.

My wife and I like the Longmire shows. She has read the book and always telling me how something is not like the book. I hope they get rid of the deputy that is running for the sheriffs position pretty soon. He is a pain in the ***.

It started pretty good, but all the gun control (all guns are registered!) is getting old as well as the gun mistakes (him cocking his .45 being the most glaring).
LDP's constant "indians good, white man bad" is getting old as well.
Interesting twist with Vic's past: I wonder if she was in the Witness Protection Program or just running from the mob?
They're trying to make the so-called sheriff's election drama-lama, but no sheriff (Longmire) no show - so it's pretty lame. Interesting to watch how Branch keeps trying to trip Longmire up (e.g. microphone trick).
We'll keep watching it, but it's poor substitute for Justified.

I also like Longmire, but sometimes the storyline does drag.

That election seems to be lasting forever. Longmire should just tell the voters to watch the past episodes of the show where he solves the crime in an hour while that dip feces deputy tries to get in the way. In one show a mass murderer kills a bunch of FBI and escapes with other prisoners. Longmire catches them. That alone would assure a re-election in real life. And that uncocked 1911 gets to me, too. Same with Tommy Lee Jones in "No Country With Old Men". He carried his 1911 hammer down with a loaded chamber. Right. But one featured use of a Sharps with that was good despite one glaring mistake that I let slide.

I watched the show a few times and it's pretty good almost next to NCIS with Agent Gibbs.

Still no matter what trade you work in there are always a few that are a pain.

It's shot here in NM. I recognize many of the locations. His 'house' is the foremans' house at the Valles Caldera. One of the most beautiful places around -except for the forest fires- that you folks have spent your money on lately.

Had a thread on this a few weeks ago that went on for a while.
I probably enjoy the atmosphere more than the plot. I find it relaxing.

We got Apple TV for Christmas and I have been binging on the 2 seasons I did not see and then went back and watched from the start as I missed some. It is not bad.

I got rid of cable a few months back. I went with a digital antenna and a Netflix subscription. I have to say, I'm only in season two but so far, Longmire is a big part of why I don't miss HBO at all.

Good show.Love the scenery! It's a modern day Hollywood that I can at least watch. They are "shooting" a 6th season this year,so it must be somewhat popular. (although that doesn't make it good..) Worth my $10/month..
