Default Sweet home Chicago

12 dead, 53 injured due to "gun violence" over this 4 day holiday in Chicago(most attributed to gang related). Our Gov. was just there explaining his rationale for amending the Concealed Carry law as "common sense" to protect the people. Barf.
What Chicago needs is gang control.

A good example of how not to run a city. Too bad.

If they get what they want the rest of the country will be just like this. I wonder how many of the perps had background checks? My guess would be none because you don't have to have one if your gun is stolen in the first place.

It's Chicago politics. Where the dead vote
every year. Can't say anything else without
getting dinged.

Anyone know how the violence in modern Chicago compares to that of the infamous 20s and 30s? It's gotta be worse......and no one doing much about it. Where's Melvin Purvis when you need him?

I think El Paso, population 750K is only about 6 so far this year. We have concealed carry, and there are PLENTY of guns around in the population.

The politicians of Chicago LOVE to blame their gun problems on our state (INDIANA). We have Carry permits- Shall issue, NO test.Just apply to city police then forward to state police for background check .We also have
The terrible gun shows that allow people from ILL. to buy guns on the sly.
We also allow buying and selling between Indiana residents without a cursed F.O.I.D. card. ITS ALL OUR FAULT that's why they call us HOOSIERS

There's no deterrent or fear of incarceration for the gang members to stop their violence because the jails are already filled with politicians!

I just met a gent who just moved from there to Corpus - just yesterday. I asked him about it and what you say is true. The only thing he didnt like besides the heat--was that he said people there seem to be more tense than here in the City by the Bay.

Purvis was a Feeb and would not have anything to say or do with what's happening in Chicago. It's politically incorrect to point fingers at the perps and their parents so they rail against "illegal guns". Most of the shooters aren't even old enough to legally own a gun. The cops catch lots of them with guns but they never prosecute the crime of illegal possession. Wouldn't want to ruin their lives by sending them to jail.

The ugly truth is a long as they shoot each other it's tolerated more or less.

I despise the term "gun violence" --- it is a twisted concoction of the anti's, and their allies in the media, inherently implying that guns are "violent" per se. This is intended to blame guns for the willful acts of criminals and sociopaths.

How's about telling the truth, for an unlikely change: "Criminals, using illegally possessed, mostly stolen or otherwise illegally acquired firearms, purposefully and with malice aforethought, committed x many assaults, x many attempted murders,, and x many completed murders, mostly in furtherance of some criminal enterprise, others thought to be retribution for "disrespectful" behavior on the part of some victims.

Federal authorities, charged with enforcing federal firearm laws, under the direction of Attorney General Eric Holder, did not respond to requests for comment, and unnamed sources said there is no effort to hold these authorities accountable for their failure to uphold their sworn duties. 'Ongoing, unchecked criminal violence is expected to continue until existing laws are enforced, criminals are prosecuted, convicted, and incarcerated', according to a law enforcement source who requested anonymity."

If so, how come you don't have a 'gun problem' and they do?? It's their propensity for lethal violence that is causing the problem; it's not the guns, it's the people.

Ah, but if they are TRULY buying the guns out of state then the Feds could make the case

As for the second part, maybe we've identified part of the problem?

The following is from Jane's Intelligence Weekly. What we are seeing in Chicago and other major cities in the US is exactly what law enforcement is seeing in other cites around the world. It is gang warfare between criminal gangs. The loony leftists do not want to differentiate between legitimate firearms owners and armed criminals. It is politically correct to blame an inanimate object as the cause of crime, rather than address the real cause of the violence. In the old days, if some street punk was causing trouble, a cop raised a lump on his head with a night stick as a warning to straighten his life before he graduated to a life of crime.

Spike in murders exposes limits of security improvement in El Salvador
The average of 18 murders per day in the last three days represents the highest average number of homicides recorded in El Salvador since March 2012, when a controversial truce was signed between the Mara Salvatrucha (MS13) and Mara 18 (M-18) gangs. The truce brought about a dramatic reduction in murders, which fell from an average of around 14 per day to approximately five.
