Default Shooting Ranges

We have a fair indoor range here locally and, we have an outdoor range -not so local- that is DNR operated and it is ok.

I shoot at both of these regularly and I seem to be a much better outdoor shooter versus indoor, with same guns. Wonder why that is, and anyone else the same?

I live in S Florida and with the heat and humidity I prefer indoor, nicely air conditioned, and don't break sweat. We have three ranges indoors all High tech, and one outdoor with skeet and trap, along with pistol and rifle, and combat area. One indoor range is paperless with you can set up targets to move in any directions or distance. It's kinda neat, the magic of computers.

We have two outdoor ranges in the State Forest that attract crazy people (no exaggeration).

We have one indoor range that rates 'fair' but the price is good. They have a rifle area indoors too that I haven't tried yet.

There are a couple of private ranges that charge absolutely exorbitant fees way out of my price range. If I got memberships there I wouldn't be able to afford to shoot, or do anything else for that matter.

I find I shoot much better outdoors, particularly with a handgun, and I owe it to the superior, natural light. As I age I'm finding it harder to see the sights, especially with the poor indoor lighting at my local range.

I prefer the outdoor range. Being an member of the local Pistol/Rifle Club allows me access to a private range that hat supports three different firing lanes for various types of firearm usage. Open to members 7 days a week.

I agree with you and noticed that myself, Natural light. Dont know why my range doesnt turn on more lights, i guess i should ask but dont. Reason #2 for me is because shooting outside at the outdoor local range is free compared to the indoor range at $17 per hour and you cant collect your brass so i guess you can say i shoot more for less since i dont have to pay 17 per hour. A good shooter is a happy shooter

I belong to my local Sportsman's Club. They have both and indoor pistol range and outside rifle and separate pistol range plus trap and skeet. I judge them be good to fair. the indoor pistol range in open 24-7. The outdoor ranges is open 8am-8pm as there are homes within a mile of the range and we want to be considerate. the indoor range in locked and you need to use a key card. I cost $35 a year plus $2 when you use the either range. The outside range collect the idiots with there big caliber pistols and 50 cal. sniper rifles. The steel target are pocked from the idiots using there big guns. I don' t use them, I have been hit by lead flying back from hitting a pock mark.
