What Happened to Yahoo E-mail?
I have used Yahoo email service for over 15 years now and until recently I was highly satisfied with it and recommended it to several others. A few months back they forced everyone to switch to their “new email service”. Ever since then my e-mail service has be terrible. I still receive emails, but other features only work sometimes and take forever to work if they do work. I am talking about basic things like reply to sender, forward, and even the new mail functions frequently no longer work.
Part of the problem may be that I live in an area without high speed internet service, so I still use the old dial up system over phone lines. Still these functions used to work on their old system and did so very well for over 15 years.
Now I am in the process of switching to G-mail which does not have the same quality of sophistication as did the old Yahoo e-mail system, but the basic features of G-mail system work and does so consistently, and without a ten or fifteen minute wait for a page to open.
Anyone else having this experience?

slow
yes, many are having this problem. If you google about it, you will see many conversations about the slowness issue. Only a few people have indicated to me that they are not having an issue and I am not sure what the variables are, but there are real issues with slowness and refresh and sending and receiving turn around times, even after a person has dumped their cookies, run disk cleanup and the like.

I get advertisements in Spanish that cover the right side of the messege, and I can't get them off.

Yahoo web pages are very "heavy". Just basic URL query "my.yahoo.com" resulted in 124k file transferred. For high speed connection it's ok, for dialup it will be very noticeable. Not much you can do about it, if you have mobile devices you can use it for your mail access. Usually companies have alternative "lightweight" interface for mobile devices.

It's NSA friendly and easier for them to copy.
Don't worry about the delays, it's sending copies of your email to 12 FED agencies, the NSA and 3 storage sites. In view of these facts, it's actually a quick response citizen, be grateful, it's for your safety.

AVG do not track works well also.
I HATE the new Yahoo! mail. Lots of failures when IO upload and attach PDF's or Word docx documents. I'm on Dumb Slow Line (DSL)

The NEW Yahoo Mail ...
The NEW Yahoo Mail is:
1) SNAFU
2) TARFU
3) *****
4) Worth Exactly What We Pay For It. (Free)
5) ALL of the ABOVE
Take your pick.
This would have been a good poll.

Its no faster with cable. Plus now sometimes when I click on "sent" I'll find myself looking at "spam" or "trash" or vice versa. WHY do they keep trying to fix something that isn't broke, and break it in the process?

I got tired of the nonsense and bought a Reagan.com email address. $40 a year with no ads and they say the email messages are secure. It's fast and works. For 15 years I had a great cable company with wonderful email service but Time Warner bought them out and, compared to Insight, TWC email is the pits.

Just Part of the New and Improved Tracking System. Easier for them, harder for us.
Not impressed with the change either.

Most webpage writers assume that everyone is on 100MB/s Ethernet. They have no concept of bandwidth being finite. I have a list of medieval things I would do to some them given the chance. Let's just say they would find typing reams of more heavy code a bit tricky. At the very least they should be made to work the net via a 28.8k modem so they are forced to write clean and efficient code.

This is a phenomenon that is repeated over and over and over and over ad nauseam. I think often it is new people’s attempt to justify their existence at the company. Sometimes people that just want change for change sake, thinking any change is good.
I wish some of these foolish people would just let well enough alone, but of course that will never happen. It is certainly not limited to computer related changes either.
In Texas we can no longer buy the old type gas cans!!!! They now have to have a plastic safety spout on them that does not work of course and will break in 6 to 12 months. In this case I guess that someone paid the legislature to pass this bill to increase their sales and to eliminate competition. The old cans were simple, easy to use, lasted for years, cost a lot less, and worked well!!
I think that it is Communism when the government controls industry, and Fascism, when industry dictates to government. I think we now have a blend of both in this county, call it Globalism.

Also on Yahoo mail, and with the new system I can't figure out how to clear the unread (and unwanted) messages from my inbox. I used to be able to select "Unread" and delete them all at once, but now they pile up, and I'm over 2000. I used to be able to zero them out every day. Anyone know the secret?

Look at selection column header- it has checkbox with a small triangle indicating drop down menu, if you click on this triangle the menu will show allowing you to do different types of selection.

I use firefox with the Addblock plus addon. This will block ads and make your web pages load faster because the adds are not loaded on the page.

I pay my provider which uses Yahoo as an email conduit. I feel like I'm paying for inferior email service.
