Donate to the NRA and get a Buck Knife
I can't believe I forgot about this!
I got a notice in the mail last week from the NRA with a great offer - donate at least $24.00 and you get a Buck pocketknife for your donation.
(You also get the satisfaction of knowing that you are doing your part to preserve our Second Amendment rights. )
Good news: According to the notice they sent me, you still have 4 days to get your knife. It was dated Aug. 2 and it said it was good for 20 days.
The website to go to:
www.NRAILA.org/Knife

Glad to see they are starting to use American made products for these promotions. Just seems right.

Our NRA family 14 year old son got his notice and on the same day took $24 from the money he's been saving for a new laptop and video games, filled out the form and asked for a stamp - He said he could see "made in USA" on the picture of the blade, so he figured it'd be a good knife to buy. Being a lifelong Buck Knives fan, this was an easy decision to support! I actually had that same model knife at one time and it's well worth the donation.

Two times I've done multiple year memberships with the NRA for the right reasons. In both cases there was an offer for a knife or a cap or something.
In both cases, I never received anything from them beside a membership card with a letter asking for more money than I'd just sent them.
The last time was four months ago a so far no "gift".
Not a big deal but it is kinda disappointing... not because of the gift.... but because of their advertising and lack of follow through.
I can't believe that I'm the only one that's had this experience.

I'm sorry to hear that NCTexan. I've always received my "incentive" stuff fairly quickly.
Also, you guys do realize that this is for the NRA-ILA, right? The NRA and NRA-ILA are two different organizations.

Everything I have ever bought from the NRA Store or gotten as a promotion has been MIC. Some Buck knives are still made out of the US, so it wouldn't surprise me if the NRA Buck knife has the MIC logo. Not trying to be a stick-in-mud...just stating my experiences with NRA products.
Sent my $24 so we'll see. I tossed my free NRA hat in the trash when I saw the MIC label.....

If you go to the link in the OP, you'll see Made In USA right on the knife.

I saw that also...hope it's true. But that knife isn't shown in the Buck inventory. Ever hear of "Bait and Switch"? I'll find out when I get mine, or someone else gets one before me. The last free knife I got from the NRA about a year ago says "China" in very small letters on the blade.

I had the exact same Buck without the NRA marking a few years ago (lost it somewhere over the years) - it was made in the USA then, so I'm betting this one is the same as marked on the blade.

Bump to top.
(I think) Today is the last day.
Remember, it's more about our freedom than it is about a pocketknife.

Bait and switch? Really? You think the NRA, and Buck, would attempt to fool you with such an obvious ploy and risk being put out of business themselves over such a small thing? Wow.
Buck, and many other companies, make special run products for things just like this. I'm not surprised it doesn't show in their regular catalog.
I got a Buck knife from an NRA promotion some time ago. It was a really nice knife, but it was made in China. I asked the Buck rep at the Shot Show about it. He said that they are working to bring their production back to the US, but some are still made in China.

you will pay a premium price for a Buck knife made in the USA. I know, cause I sent my first one back cause it said MIC and I refused to carry it in my pocket. I let Buck knife know I was not happy to receive a knife MIC. IMHO they (BUCK) should make it downright plain in their catalogs and online store where the knives are made.

I have been a member of the NRA for most of my life. When I had extra money I would throw them 25.00 or so. It got to a point where they would call me 2-3 times a year asking for more. I finally contacted them and said I would pay my annual membership but that's all. They should spend more time recruiting new members.

I really hate seeing people bad mouth companies when they don't know what they're talking about.
Buck does advertise when something is made in the US. I went to their site and the very first knife I saw was this:
I added a couple of giant arrows because apparently it isn't obvious enough. You can even see U.S.A. on the blade if you take the time to look. How much more "downright plain" can it be? Now you're gonna complain that this particular knife isn't available.

Plenty of disagreement in this thread.
Jeez, I didn't mean to start a p'ing match.
I just thought a name-brand knife was a nice incentive for some of us to kick in a few bucks to support those who support us.
I only posted the link to inform people that may not have been aware of this promotion.
_______________
I do agree that I'd rather own an American made product rather than one made in China.
Sadly, some of my favorite brands have jumped on the "China bandwagon" including Kershaw, Leupold, Buck, etc.
Aggravating, yes. But I still do have the option to choose only to spend my money on the USA products, and maybe to call or e-mail the offending company and tell them so.

Apparently Buck is making good on its attempt to bring production back to the US. I've seen a lot of Buck knives in various stores and almost without exception they are made in the USA. This is good; I like Buck knives.

Registered just to answer this question: I sent the money, got a note saying they were backordered due to unanticipated demand, and haven't heard a thing from them on the topic since. They keep sending out requests for more contributions, though.
Lifetime NRA member, occasional contributor to fund drives. Rather upset that they'd blow something so simple. I was looking forward to owning a shiny new Made in the USA NRA Buck knife.

First, welcome to the Forum.
Second, my knife just showed up the other day as described in this thread:
My NRA knife showed up today.
They acknowledged that there would be a delay due to the popularity and success of the knife promotion.
Don't give up hope, my friend.

I've spoken to them 2 times over the last 2 months about not getting our knife yet - they keep saying it was over expected demand and that they should be caught up within a month, which is right about now.....still no knife.

You are not alone, I send them money every month, and they never follow through on any offer nor do they follow up on emails.
I'm becoming disillusioned with the NRA for this and several other reasons.
