Default Another project done, what's next

With the weather not cooperating and having to wait around for some phonecalls this morning. I finished up another project. A couple of years back some of my wife's relatives gave her an old duck decoy that was hand carved, not sure how old it was, but someone put a lot of time into it. The head is moveable and everything was hand carved and chiseled. I didn't take a picture before, the stain on it was very old and it had been painted once, I think water had taken most of it off. There was one chip in the tail that I repaired and made look like the rest of the bird. I decided to paint it like a mallard drake because that's the most common duck we have in the area. Not sure if there was a collector's value since it looks like something someone made and not produced but now the wife likes how it looks and it can officially stay on the mantle.

I don't know anything about collecting, I just know that you did some very nice work restoring someone's hard work. Your reward is being able to display it.

Nice restoration. Unfortunately it may have pretty seriously reduced any collector value, but I'd keep it on the mantel if it were mine.

Nice job. There's something about duck decoys that make a room a little warmer, and a cluttered shelf a little more organic.
